lumbar facet block

My last option was carried out yesterday, I had bilateral lumbar facet blocks on three levels.

my pain has flared in my left leg, I’m due back at work day after tomorrow and I’m so scared to as I don’t know how my back will react. As of right now my back becomes very painful with sitting, standing. Is this normal?

I had ablation(burned) on my nerves L3 to s1 (I think it was) you have to rest really for 48 hours, I felt like I’d been kicked!!! But try to give your body time..it’s been “tampered” with its natural flow give it time to settle. And fingers crossed you will be ok. X

Also I found lying flat helped me, with what I had done.

thank you so much Deb. Laying down is my only comfortable(ish) position. My back actually feels worse today. I just pray that the injections kick in soon and the pain eases. X

it will feel worse, (mine did) it may take a few days before you get relief..

I know mine was a different procedure, but I think it’s as deep as the facets. Disturbing muscles that are already probably sore. X

thank you Deb. I had a very brief instance of bending with minimal pain but now my right side and right leg feel painful which is new. Just a waiting game I guess. X

thought I’d give you an update. I ended up going to the doctors as the pain was spreading and i woke up one morning and couldn’t keep my head up. The doctor had an ambulance take me straight to A&E and it turned out I had Discitis. Was in for a week then home with a course of antibiotics. I’m in my 4th week of being off work and I’m struggling a lot to be up and about still. Just my luck to get something that is usually RARE.

Hope your well

omg.. what is Discitis? Sounds very painful, and debilitating.

So sorry you’re going through this! X sending a hug x

thank you Deb. It’s an infection in the intervertebral disc space. Sounds like I had it mild or caught it quick because I have seen people have to be on antibiotics for 6 weeks onwards.

I’m hoping I have had my fair share now 🙄. I really hope you are doing well! X

hope you get better soon. I’m not too bad. Just dealing with muscular skeletal pain. But you know there always pain killers when it gets too bad.

You take care x
