Chiropractor or Osteopath

I am currently 10 weeks post op from a TKR and my mobility is good but I am experiencing lower back pain which is different to my usual back pain. I am trying to walk mindfully but am thinking I might need some help but I don't know the difference between a chiropractor and an osteopath. Who could help me better?

Either should be able to help.

I would be more interested in getting a personal recommendation, because they are all so different in effectiveness.

Maybe there might be reviews online, of the ones in your area?

Good luck.

both are good. I think it’s personal preference. I’ve had acupuncture, too. Currently seeing a McTimoney chiropractor (less cracking/gentler) which to me has been a lifesaver! Good luck

I would use neither at the moment. I suggest you find a good physiotherapist. My husband found his back troublesome after his TKR and a few visits to a good physio put him back on track.

Just to second this suggestion, a physio should definitely be the first port of call in this kind of situation, probably both more appropriate medically and cheaper!

Go to a physiotherapist

Osteopaths are Allied Health Care Professionals under the NHS just as physios are. So either of those would be worth seeing. There are some areas now where you can see an osteopath under the NHS, some GP surgeries have them now, so check out before you pay anything.

A chiropractor is mainly focused on the spine, but an osteopath will take in the whole body, so after a TKR it might be better to see either a physio or osteopath.
