Hi!

I'm Timothy a 4th year Product Design Engineer at the University of Strathclyde. For my Final year project I am investigating the design of backrests on chairs (mainly for chairs used at home) to significantly reduce lower back pain.

So if you could help me by filling this survey out it would be greatly appreciated and any feedback is welcome!

Thank you for your time.😊

Hi Tim-schilli yes he graduated on electrical and electronics engineering and got a good job already near to us one other thing I would say with regards to sitting with sciatica I tend to lean to one side when sitting. Hope this helps keep working hard and you will get the rewards best of luck

Great to hear, trying my hardest to achieve the same. That's really useful to know.. is it always the same side you tend to lean on while sitting?

Hi tim-schilli yes I usually always take sciatica on the left side so tend to sit on my right side on my hip if it not sore but I can tell you that I find sitting on the cushion off wheelchair more comfortable. Maybe a left and right lumbar support ?. Hope this helps gl

I've researched a little about how heat therapy helps treat Lower back pain specifically, so I'm glad to hear it has worked so well!

Hi Tim, I am also Tim, Civil Eng Dublin (but 60 yrs ago .... when surveys were done only in person or by handwriting!). Good to see you doing this. Reckon the questions need some tweaking, like no-one sits continually at 90, so some flex needed. Happy to fill it in, but pls explain what is 'aggressive' back support? ..... maybe a controlled thunder flash? Cheers TimbowPSP

Thanks for your input! I do agree that no one would sit continually at 90 but if you were to make an effort to only sit like that for the majority of your time then that would be your answer. Aggressive lumbar support would mean that it is very pronounced in its shape and size and not just a little curve at the lumbar region. Timothy
