Hi everyone, I hope you are all doing well!

I am currently a researcher at the University of Bath looking for individuals interested in taking part in research about chronic pain. We are looking for people with a diagnosis of chronic pain (including fibromyalgia, CRPS, chronic lower back pain, etc.), who have also had experiences of visual imagery. The aim of this study is to better understand these experiences to help improve current chronic pain treatment.

If you are in pain, I would be very thankful if you could take part in our study. Those who take part will also have the chance to win an Amazon gift voucher worth £50 (only available in GBP).

Thank you in advance!

I don't understand the criteria. What does "experience of visual images" mean?

I agree, the post above isn't clear. This is what the information page says:

"What is this study about?

I am looking for individuals to take part in an online interview. In this interview, I would like to talk to you about thoughts which may pop into your mind when you are in pain. I am specifically referring to thoughts which form as pictures in your mind, images which come to you spontaneously as you experience pain. For this study, I am interested in how experiencing these images can affect your day-to-day life when living with chronic pain."

Hi there, thank you for showing interest in our study!

When we mention “experiences of visual images”, we are specifically looking for individuals who frequently have mental images associated with their pain. For example, when someone with abdominal pain starts feeling pain, they might suddenly experience images of themselves curled up in a pit, images of their children crying, images of a heavy ball weighing them down, or images of bright operating room lights.

I suggest that you try posting this research on the NIHR -' People in research' website?

Hi Kidge,

Thank you for your interest in the study. The interview itself will take around 30 minutes, while the two surveys beforehand will take 2 minutes each to complete.
