Red lumps on hands

Hi,

Since I've started having issues with my joints (had two hip replacements at 25, arthritis in my lower lumbar spine & sacralratic joint etc) I've had these lumps appear for a couple of days (more sometimes) and then they go away for a bit.

They really hurt to touch. They appear over night most of the time. Mostly appear on my finger joints. They seem to be getting bigger everytime they flair up. It seems to come when my pain is worse or sometimes if I've been stressed.

It makes it painful to move my fingers, especially if they are on my joints.

I have a doctors appointment on Wednesday but in my experience I know I'm going to be fobbed off. It's a phone appointment too.....I have sent pictures

Does anyone have any idea what they are?

The picture are the first day and they don't show how red and sore they are so please keep that in mind. More will pop up during the "flair".

P.s they are 1000% not warts.

From what I can see the red marks on the joints of some of your fingers look like the start of Arthritis.

Sorry old chum but as you have been suffering with Arthritis in other parts of your body sadly it looks like it started in your hands.

I agree, these red spots could be arthritis. You don't say what kind of arthritis you have, there are many different kinds. I have psoriatic arthritis with little to no psoriasis, and have some lumps like that on my fingers. But the rheumatologist thinks it is also osteoarthritis. I hope your GP will refer you to a rheumatologist if you don't already have one.

So all of my arthritis' are said to be osteoarthritis BUT the only test they have done for rheumatoid is one blood test....then they just said I have fibro....they don't seem to care enough. Arthritis in our family is terrible. Most the woman have had double hip replacements under 25. And have arthritis In multiple joints.

Osteoarthritis is wear and tear right? We are all super young. We aren't athletes or dancers or do anything that can cause that much wear and tear. When they went in with scopes on my hips. They all said they hadn't seen that much damage in someone my age.

I just feel fobbed off all the time

osteoarthritis isn't wear and tear, that is an old fashioned way of thinking about it. More and more research is showing that it is a inflammatory disease affecting the whole of the joint. The wearing away of the cartilage is a symptom of other things that are going on.

Sadly once someone is diagnosed with fibromyalgia (which is actually a controversial diagnosis as there are no standard objective tests for it) it can be hard to get further care. But make sure you really do have fibro. the definition has changed recently.

Take a look at the definitions of chronic pain here. Fibro would come under primary chronic pain, but if you have other conditions that cause pain, that would be chronic secondary pain. Fibro is accompanied by mental health issues.

That's always how my doctors describe osteoarthritis.

My frustration is that no one wants to find out the underlying cause.

Having the diagnosis of fibro is so difficult because when I have a concern about pain in a new joint, it's automaticly fibro.

I fought for an xray on my shoulder because the pain was awful. I couldn't move it at times and it was terrible. My rheumatologist kept saying its nothing. It's just fibro. I pushed and pushed and he xrayed it for me....reluctantly.

Came back as dysplasia. Rang me up with the result. Haven't heard from him since. Its been two years.

I am constantly forgotten about and feel like no one cares

Have you been tested or do you have rheumatoid arthritis? They look like RA nodules but please get your doctor to verify or test you! God bless!
