I have been suffering with nerve damage after herniated disc following 6 months of sciatic pain almost 12 months ago. Last weekend I took a diazepam to combat social anxiety but was amazed at the results of the relief that it brought to my nerve damage (which is not pain but loss of sensation), which lasted for up to a week . I wondered if anyone uses diazepam on a interim basis for similar results and if anyone can see a problem with this approach??? Thanks

Occasional diazepam
The only problem with Diazepam is that it only takes three hits to become addicted to it. If you can genuinely take one and not take another one within twenty-four hours then, as long as your GP will prescribe them for you, I can see no harm in continuing for a while, in order to get your pain under control.
Thanks for your reply. Like I say I'm not in pain its sensation loss and tense muscles seem to heighten the 'odd' feeling, which is an awful constant.
Many years ago I was prescribed 20 tablets of diazepam for muscle spasms in my back and neck. It was wonderful. That 20 tablets lasted me many years. I would just have to take one or two to relax the muscles and then I could recover without further drugs.
There are nerves running through muscles and into muscles throughout our bodies, so it is entirely possible that there is a muscle spasm that you might not be aware of causing some of your nerve symptoms.
One diazepam a week? It might be worth carrying on to see if it works, then talk to your GP or physio.
As for mine, I ran out about 10 years ago and haven't asked for more. But I really wished I had them when I had a flare last year. It might not have helped, but because I haven't got any I will never know.
