Had Lumbar MRI 2 weeks ago as been having awfull lower back pain and pain in buttocks. Its been alot better recently but it comes and goes.
Anyways Doctors wanted to discuss the results "routinely" they said, So they must of found something showing, Anyone know what MRI can show for lumbar low back.
I got told its not urgent one and not to worry, but I cant help worry when theres clearly something on there
I also had bloods done for another health problem and they wanted to discuss them also Erythrocyte sedimentation rate was abnormal.
Not sure if the 2 could be linked.

You should listen to doctors. If anything serious they would have spoken to you quickly. I had an MRI and confirmed what was wrong. In my case bulging discs. Didn’t change anything but gp said at least we know why pain is there.
I agree, if it was urgent as in cancer they would have called you in immediately. The fact that they want to talk to you means that they may have found something that is causing the pain which is good. If they hadn't found anything they would have just said nothing found, which isn't great is it. So this is good news, they may have an answer to your pain. I would be more worried if you were told there was nothing and yet you still had pain.
So now you can be curious, but you don't need to worry!
Hi, I had right side sciatica for some years & was having para vertebrae nerve blocks till three years ago when I asked my GP about surgery. He sent me to have an MRI scan of lumbar spine & then on to see spine surgeon. He showed me the scan pictures & it shows, as well as vertebrae, the discs & the nerves from different angles the most striking being that you can go right down the spinal canal & see nerves branching off. Absolutely amazing, so MRI scans show an awful lot & if there are problems with your discs and/or nerves the scan will show it. Hope this helps
Hi, I agree with the other comments. Its nothing urgent but worth discussing which is why they want you in. I've had numerous MRI's. Very first one was referred urgently and had to be dealt with by having surgery. Have had more surgery since. But if it is routine and they want to discuss it with you non urgently it is most likely to show you the results and what can be done to reduce pain by physio etc. So I would say don't worry too much about it.
I had a lumbar MRI 2 years ago after pestering my GP for referral to a consultant spinal surgeon due to pain preventing me walking more than 50yards. It showed severe spinal stenosis which means the nerves going down your spine are being pinched causing buttock pain/sciatica down legs etc. As a result I had 4 injections which really helped with the pain for a month, then back on the painkillers. Then I was referred to Pain Management (NHS, UK of course) who eventually gave me medial nerve injections which again helped. I was also under a consultant back surgeon who urged me to have surgery, but I went for non-invasive treatment first so am awaiting radiofrequency nerve ablations L3/4 and L4/5 but due to Covid I don't know when that will happen. Meanwhile I'm toddling about, furniture-walking around the house and on serious doses 3/4 times daily of paracetamol, dihydrocodeine and ibuprofen - which I hate doing. But all I can do is wait until NHS gets me to the top of the waiting list! All I can say to comfort you is that please keep up with the minimum of painkillers and trust that whatever they tell you, they are there to try and help sort your lumbar spine out. PS: forget the physio - it doesn't do a thing!
