Good evening and Happy new year. Long story short:I suffer for many years from back pain and I am also asthmatic., having gastritis IBS and lately irregular periods..I am 34 y.o . I ve done lots of tests, went many times to Gp, specialists, phisiotherapists but no one was able to give me an answer. Mornings especially before my periods,I wake up with very bad ribcage pain( left side) . This morning from 5 to 9 o clock I ve struggled to have some sleep because bloating and terrible pain ( couldn t turn from one side to other ). The thing is that after wake up and start moving I feel better but still the pain is there but not that bad...anyone experienced such thing? Suggestions are highly apreciated as I am literally desperated. Thank you

Sounds familiar to me. I have had ribcage pain for years - decades, in fact. I even had a diagnostic laparoscopy for it. Because of the chronic abdominal swelling, he found a fatty adhesion to my ribcage, but nothing else. While he was in there, he removed my gall bladder.I very recently have had relief from the pain - it's still there but subsided a whole lot. The only difference in my life is that I'm not eating tomatoes. I love pasta and make a lot of sauce every so often so I can make a quick meal when needed. Since my last hospitalization for severe abdominal swelling and pain, I am mostly on a liquid diet and haven't had any pasta sauce.

My pain feels somewhat like it could be an ulcer, but I don't know. The stomach is the one place they didn't test.

My thought: could it be related to something you're eating?

Very best wishes to you.

I ve tried as well with food diet etc..but looks like the pain get worse when I am bloated. I was thinking as well it could be the gail bladder as sometomes the pain seems to be localised sovewhere near the stomach and if I press down my belly button the pain get worse that somach side area.

Generally speaking pain tends to be worse during the night but it might be worth thinking about your bed/mattress/pillow etc as it may be contributing to the increased pain at night. I have chest/rib pain (costochondritis) and use pillows ( and a long hot water bottle) to prop myself into the least painful position. I have become very particular in what I need to have to try and ensure a good nights sleep. With some conditions, like arthritis, you tend to be better during the day when you are moving for many reasons including the pressure on your ribcage when you are lying down. Periods can decrease your pain tolerance overall so painful conditions tend to be worse before, during or after your period depending on your cycle.

I did again some blood tests and the doctor called me yesterday to tell me that CA125 is high and sugested to see gynaecologist ....tomorrow I have pelvic internal scan( was already booked ).I called again the doctor to tell me exacly how high is Ca125 and give more explanation as I didn t know yeaterday when first called me what exactly means . I am terified now especially that i have the continuous back pain and bloating I was telling you about...I am wondering if they could missed something all this time as I did lots of tests: MRI,CT scans,Xrays, blood tests, ultrasounds...last xray I had few weeks ago, hips area, wonder If could catch something if it was the case...

The chances of them missing something with all those tests is slim. I always felt reassured when they were doing lots of tests as they rule out anything serious. The frustrating thing is when you are not getting results to explain your symptoms. This happens more often than you might think. I hope you get some answers soon and your pain etc eases.

HelloI was today for pelvic scan and the lady carrying the scan said is nothing that looks concerning and that CA123 are not usually concludent. Moreover the rheumatologist called me today to tell me about that the pelvic xrays and blood tests are absolutely fine and looks like my problem might be muscular. ..so I am glad to hear this but still no answer...with Ca125 high I am wondering now if can be from somewhere else such as liver etc..I have one more abdominal scan on 18th next week ...

All the other tests were fine as well...I m basically where I was at the beggining ..with no answers...the only solution I guess is to exercice more and be carefull with what I am eating because of the IBS..all the best!
