Sorry to hear you are in such pain. Have you had any support from your GP?

As for PIP, it is worth getting help with filling the form out. You can go to the CAB or a similar local support group, or you can join Benefits and Work who produce excellent guides to filling the form out.

It can be really hard dealing with the pain and filling the form out at the same time.

Hi, if you apply for to see your medical records and copy what you need from them that is relevant that will help a lot. If you need to ask for an extension.

I echo using the benefits and work site, I have used them for years and they have helped me a lot especially when I went to tribunal three times and eventually won. They have guides that you read for a small yearly fee and are invaluable. There are also several groups on Facebook that have experienced members if you search PIP groups.

As long as you fill on form correctley put down your bad days saying what pain you are in. What you cannot do give details of your gp and consultant at hospital what medication you are on. Be truthful and make sure you give as much detail as possible

Good luck

I am so sorry you are in agony. I have been there several times and it hurts so badly. The first time I could not stand up straight. All I could do was bend in one direction from my waist. The event came out of no where so I called an orthopedic doctor and made the following statement, " I am in mortal pain, I can not stand up straight as I am bend at the waist in one direction. I know I have not seen the doctor but please give me your first appointment available and would the doctor prescribe just enough pain medications to give me relief until I see the doctor. He did and when I could finally see the doctor, I went from his office to the hospital. Now that was back in the 80's and I know it is tougher these days to get pain medications, but if you can do a virtual appointment over computer or your phone, a doctor can prescribe at least that is true in the US. If not available where you live, get to a doctor. When my slipped discs act up and I can't get rid of it on my own, I know it is time to go to the doctor.

Also, some home remedies. I used to have a massage therapist practice. Guess what, my back put me out of business. But, there are several things that can be done. Get some sort of MOIST HEAT. It has to be moist heat, you can take a hand towel, get it wet, then microwave it for (you choose the time), wrap the damp towel in plastic bag of some sort of plastic and then wrap that in a dry towel and place on your back or where ever your pain is. If the heat is too intense keep adding towel layers until you can tolerate the heat. It needs to be on the area for at least 15 minutes. You may have to repeat several times a day or for days.

Another add on would be 15 minutes of moist heat and then 15 minutes of ice. This creates a pumping action in the area of pain. One of the reasons your back is in pain, is because when the body has an injury the brain sends out a signal for the blood stream to rush to the area and "fix it". The injured area is clogged with the blood and now you have inflammation causing pain. If you can get a pumping action going you will get relief. I achieved it once during one of my massage classes. It is truly unique feeling. It felt like someone or something pulled the plug and then flushed the pain. Good luck and get help.

As others have said get help to complete form. How long have you had problems with slipped disc?

I ask because must have had problems for previous 6 months and thought to continue for at least another 6 months. Otherwise won’t even consider claim.

3 months before applying.

Yes sorry is 3 months BUT expectation that issues will continue for 9 months not 6 months.

Also you can ask at GP reception for a free summary of your health. This is what PIP would ask for anyway at a later stage
