Hi everyone, have been prescribed tramadol for short term pain relief. Only taken one dose so far and I got dreadful nausea two hours later! Is the time delay usual? I know that sickness is a common side effect, but does it wear off? How long is it likely to take before it's bearable?
Thanks for any information

I found it caused nausea and vomiting if I ate within 6 hours of taking it. I now have Zydol which is a coated Tramadol tablet for slow release. This is much better
Hi gulliver, Shuggy54 here in my experience the first thing to do is have some food then take one tramadol with one paracetamol they work far better this way with no nauseating effects, taken that way worked for me you may have a different constitution
I hope you benefit from this, let me know how you get on.
Thanks for your reply! As I was only going to take tramadol for a short time (less than a week) I decided not to persevere and go for painkillers that I've had before, which I know won't give me a problem. Thanks again for your time
I have used Tramadol in capsule form for years now and it no longer makes me feel sick. I don’t take it all the time. I do have some anti sickness pills from the gp which may help.
Thank you for your help, I am only taking painkillers for a short time after foot surgery, so decided to take different tablets that I've used before, which don't give me nausea.
I have also abandoned the tramadol and gone for a different painkiller that I've used before, which doesn't make me sick! Some people advised taking with food, others said leave it 6 hours after food! Too confusing! Thanks for your help
