I was diagnosed with De Quervain's tenosynovitis due inflammation on my wrist with a lump Nov 2019...I've had numerous tests and ultra scan to find the cause of the inflammation however the results came back clear. Was giving a steroid injection that makes the pain disappear and swelling disappears, However the drug is meant to last for up 3 months according to my doctor but only last for 2 weeks on me...I was then given a drug Sulfasalazine which my body reacted badly to after 48rs. I was covered in bruises /skin changed colour, gum was sore/ bleeding and and slight aches on my torso so i stopped it immediately and reports back to doctors due to the side effect which i was told can suppress my immune system. However i had an appointment booked to see specialist again but due to covid-19 , Mine was cancelled for 4 months or further notice.

Ive since been self medicating on naproxen and paracetamol which has been of no real effect. Over this period, Things have got worse with the pain from day to day. Shoulder joints start to hurt, a big lump has developed on my hand under my skin, my knees/thighs hurt when i get up, My ankle swells a bit on the inside reduces my mobility and finally just in the last 48hr my neck is stiffing up and aching too. This has been causing my sleepless nights and just in the process of losing my job as i cant physical rely on my body to hold up for a day. Ive always being an active person and looked after myself with ever having wait issues.

So fellow human beings with heart of gold and willingness to help, I cry to you and plead to all for some medical advice or dietary advise so i can take control of my life and be able to provide for my family as I've always done. This has been really tough times for me with the family as i cant bare them watch me in agony every single day. makes wonder about my drive to continue with life itself. I will be so greatfull for any sort of recommendation or solution to fight whatever this is thats slowly attacking my immune system in my opinion and im losing it fast and painful. Please Help!!!

My first thought is that as the steroid injection eased your pain, although it wasn’t very long/lasting (they often aren’t), is there any reason that they can’t try you on daily oral steroids? Perhaps suggest it to your Dr.

Meanwhile, look up anti-inflammatory foods and try and change your diet to include as many of them as possible. Also look up foods that are inflammation-producing and avoid those. You will be surprised how much that can help.

Thanks for the advise...I was supposed to see the Rheumatologist for the next course of treatment but that didn't happen as i was classed as high risk when the covid-19 lockdown was initiated. And I've since been waiting for a to get seen and they dont want me near the hospital which i do understand but I'm losing mobility slowly week by week which i can tell. Will change my base my diet around anti inflammatory food and see what happen. Once again thanks.

Hello there,

It sounds like you're having a really difficult time with pain at the moment. I hope that the following resources might send you in the right direction for getting useful support.

First, here is a link to some very useful information leaflets - specifically there is a leaflet about 'getting a good night's sleep' when experiencing pain, and there is also one about 'diet and pain' which you may find helpful.

painconcern.org.uk/publicat...

If you type 'De Quervain Tenosynovitis NHS' into Google, it comes up with some very useful self-help resources provided by NHS trusts to help manage this condition.

Also, you may find this link useful : painconcern.org.uk/resource... - it will provide you with information about alternative pain management strategies such as 'acupuncture' and 'mindfulness'

Finally, you mention that your pain and resulting lack of mobility is causing you to lose your job - have you discussed your condition with your manager?

'Fit for Work' is an organisation that offers free, expert and impartial advice to anyone looking for help with issues around health and work - You can find the link to contact 'Fit for Work' here: fitforwork.org/

I hope this information was useful to you.

My goodness you are really suffering. It’s not fair that severe chronic pain and treatments are not considered essential. I totally get how you’re feeling.

Can you access CBD tablets at a chemist’s store? Holland and Barrett sells it. If you go there, you can find magnesium supplements which will stop muscle pain and spasms.

Adjusting diet IS key. Avoid white flour and pasta. Eat lean, green and keep hydrated.

The other suggestion I have is to make curried vegetables or stir fries and add extra turmeric. It has natural anti inflammatory properties. You could try turmeric pills from a health food store.

Are you getting depressed OR is it more anxiety? You’ll likely need an anti-depressant to help prevent suicidal thoughts.

If it’s more anxiety, then a product called Pascoflaire which are passionflowers pills will help significantly. They’re also good for pain.

Finally, I agree, you may need daily steroid pills. My dear friend had polymyalgia rheumatica and she needed oral steroids for years. Good luck. I feel for you very much.

Hi, sorry to hear of your predicament, I can sympathize with you very much. After a motorcycle crash in 2004 i have been taking a multitude of meds. Ive had the run of the mill treatments and physio. I managed to work 10 years in a physical job this way.

Now I am a carer for my asd adhd son and have family with 6 children.

My sister has debilitating Rheumatoid Arthritis, she is on a course of steroids but she finds that strong cannabinoids are the best anti-inflammatory and pain reliever she has ever had.

From oil drops, to balm and capsules. I have the balm which i use on my sciatica and pain and it works really well. Amazing plant the cannabis plant, its earths natural healer. Unfortunately it is abused in the wrong ways and seen in a negative way.. If you look deeper into it the plant is a brilliant anti-inflammatory treater.
