And secondly...you won't bore me. Not as if I'm going out anywhere!

Always here if you want a chat although may not be an immediate reply.

Others here have advised Oxycontin which is stronger with Oxynorm for 'top' up when pain gets bad.

My advice is don't go near Oxycontin...it is a horrible, horrible, the most addictive drug and anyone who has ever tried to come off it finds it extremely hard.

You could stay on Oxynorm tablets and add Oxynormm liquid for top up. It works much faster than the tablets

You are having a really tough time, I was so sad to read you posts. Have you thought of trying mindfulness for pain? There are several sites to Google that you could have a look at. Very very best wishes

Should add I’m 82 &feel very lost keep safe x❤️

Bananas5 in reply to Peggy76

No I didn't suggest upping you current medication. Just felt maybe adding the liquid version of Oxynorm in as well. It works faster than thee tablets which are slow release.

I am sure your daughter means well but she must not tell YOU what to take. I had a Mum...91 who was poorly and it was always her choice not mine what she did.

Keep strong...we are all in lock down and where we live abroad we can't even go out for exercise

Peggy, I really feel for you in your situation.

You are not boring anyone here-- most of us gone through bad patches, and I've certainly felt like ending it all many times.

First off-- 30 mg of Oxynorm is no big deal, especially if it is purely for pain relief.

What form are you taking, and has your doctor offered you Oxycontin? It is longer lasting and avoids any highs and lows that the Oxynorm may bring about.

I take Oxycontin 10 mg twice in 24 hrs, and supplement it with Oxynorm 5mg to make up the shortfall in the Contin lasting only about 9 hours. This factor may not be an issue for you, as it affects only about a third of people.

And I'm only a child-- 73 yrs at last count!🤫

It will also be easier to reduce your opiate dose with that regime.

Peggy-- we are here to help you any way we can, so please don't feel you are wasting anyones' time.

You are not.

If you are in the UK or Ireland, you could give the Samaritans a ring at any time. They are not judgemental and will listen. I'm sure there is a similar service in whatever country you live in.

Please keep in touch.

All the best and a big hug to you!

Peggy hope you are ok. We are all here to be each other’s support. It is only those who are going through it who understand and we do and share each other’s burden. As was already said you need the long acting OxyContin and for break through or incidental pain you take the oxynorm which is short acting. Some prescribers do not know about this and how to convert. You are not on much looks like 50mg in 24 hrs and maybe plus another extra 10-25mg? All these will need to be factored to prescribe the OxyContin and then oxynorm only when you need it. If you are requiring more break through pain then they look at the long acting dosage again. Regards your heart problems and am sure you are taking other meds too so this should be considered. Unfortunately our NHS it is who shouts the loudest so please do not give up and do not suffer alone. Ask to be referred to a pain clinic. Wish you all the best and you are not a bother one bit❤️ We are here if you need us

Peggy love you are still very young and no one should be speaking and acting for you if you are not happy with their decisions. Am really upset, this is abuse. I am sure you love your daughter(s) but it is your body your life and no one should be taking decisions for you when you are more than capable of it. Peggy can you ask for a family meeting with your Gp even it is over the phone. Peggy your Gp n daughter are wrong in the way you are bn treated and you must act. Do you want help for this to stop. ❤️

Della30 profile image
Della30 in reply to Della30

Peggy I cannot stop thinking about you, there are forms of pain killers available like patches that you place on your skin - all these if you could speak to guys GP yourself. I don know you personally but I think you have mental capacity which is decision and time specific. Can you email your GP that you do not want anyone acting on your behalf but you. If you can get on here then you can send emails. Lockdown does not mean everything has stopped and your daughter may mean well but not talking to you because you took an extra dose because you needed it is cohesive behaviour and a form of abuse.

She can't leave under the lock down and she is using that like blackmail to get you to do what she wants.

If she doesn't have POA then you must speak with your GP

Can you ring Social Services and tell them your situation? You are a vulnerable at risk adult and they have a duty of care to you.

We are all here to help where we can

Am going to find how I can send you a private msg. Since you be access to this forum at least we can go from there. I look after a lot of people who do not have family but have people to care for them. Peggy hang in there❤️

Peggy are you still a caretaker and your daughter doing your caretaking roll for you. Caretaking for 40 years and at this age you shd not be working. We should be looking after you whether you have health issues or not. There are soooo many agencies who can help you. Your GP has really let you down and we are not going to do that. You are not going to be homeless and you will have the support and help you need in a safe and caring environment. Pls let us help you.❤️

Hello Peggy

I’m nearly 70. I’m happy to listen anytime. I have a long list of health problems. Have felt pretty low at times. I’ve phoned Samaritans, but I’m still here and optimistic. But what I wanted to say was that I had afriend who treated her mother a bit like your daughter., except that she over medicated her. Another friend spotted it and told social services and the carers then came in to help. She was bedridden too, but her situation became much better. I stopped talking to this friend after her Mum eventually passed away, I was so disgusted at her. I think some of these kind people have offered help, so I hope things are going to get better for you.

Keep safe and well. Jennifer
