Does anyone know what I can do to keep dry.

There are incontinence clinics...or used to be. Referal through your GP. They used to give pads too but they were horrendous in one size fits all.

You can buy through Amazon washable pants which are very good. Not cheap but well worth the expense

The trouble is that the op has probably weekened the urine outlet from the bladder. Pelvic floor exercises may help a bit. There are Continence clinics to help and you can get free Incontinence pads if they agree, which are good at night but quite bulky. There are lots of others to buy in supermkts. I agree that they should be called Incontinence clinics which people would understand more, but the Health people say we are promoting Continence, but it isn't a word most people use much.

I looked after a husband after a Stroke who had to have them. Good Luck.

Hi Paddington 22, being a female I haven't the same problem as you for the same reason ! However I do have occasional incontinence because of my stroke in 2009 (particularly when I get up in the night (which I do often ) I suppose its my bladder pressing down, It also happens as soon as I see the loo . I tried not putting the light on but that is dangerous I admit. I then reasoned that it was my brain triggering the leak so set out to conquer my brain with my mind. (the psychologist did confirm brain and mind were separate. If so: where is my mind. (in my case on a sunny beach in the Caribbean ) So you may think this is crackpot but as I made my way to the loo, hanging onto my bladder for dear life. I went through the ingredients then the method of making an apple pie ! I've more or less conquered it ! no more wet knickers.

Sorry if you think I'm too flippant. I do empathise with you , my dad had a prostate (or "prostrate" op as he insisted on calling it ) and the incontinence problem upset him. However we bought thickish underpants from a gents outfitters and he wore two pairs at a time as he desperately didn't want to wear the pads (although there's no shame in that and no-one needs to know ) I didn't mind the extra washing and honestly it got better, he graduated back to one pair at a time very quickly.

It will get betterbut please have a word with the practice nurse at your GP's clinic, they are used to this problem with gentlemen.

Big cheers, don't drink blackcurrant squash btw

Thank you for the information.

I would say that I am 10% incontinece and just cannot get Back to normal.

I have tried everything my wife and I have been told to do.

I had my op over two years ago.

Thanks once again.

so sorry to hear that Geoff, I don't know what to say except that I'm sure your wife is just so happy to have you with her , incontinent or not. I know it seems a huge issue to us, but I am convinced from friends who have had the problem that it clears up. I'm trying to remember things I did when it was at it's worst. I bought a female urinal which can be for men too so if I was really caught short I used that, but don't park on an incline -(no that won't apply to you ) ha ha. Probably the best thing is to get incontinence pads or just get high absorbancy female STs which are less bulky.

All the best , keep your chin up, you've got through the cancer well done for that , keep strong xx
