Recently started taking Pregabalin for Peripheral Neuropathy pain and at first I didn't notice any concerning side effects but, over the past few days, I've been experiencing stomach discomfort, I have suffered with IBS but had it under control. It seems to be returning and I 'm unsure if Pregabalin is the cause.

Pregabalin
Hello K2box
Did you know you have posted this twice? Might be better to delete the other to save any confusion.
Pregabalin can have many side effects and you would know fairly soon if they don't work for you.
I am not aware of them aggravating IBS though. Maybe worth speaking with your Doctor

There is a spread of different responses to drugs in a population of people. Some responses are rare and some are common. What is important is what is your response? Only you can investigate this.
Drug interaction is a complex thing dependent on many factors. One factor which varies widely is the microbiome that resides in the human gut. This may or may not make a considerable difference to how a drug responds in your system.
is worth looking at.
Reading what the site says and combining this with my knowledge of biophysics and feedback mechanisms there are indications that the drug can interfere with the digestive system. Hence your concern about IBS.
The way to look at is you have a weakness towards experiencing IBS. This weakness does not mean that you will get IBS. This is because you can do things that can compensate for your weakness and as such can to a certain extent avoid IBS.
You have now applied a stressor to your system. The added stress can overwhelm the weakness you have towards experiencing IBS and you start to experience IBS symptoms again.
Am I accurate or am I drawing the wrong conclusion? I do not know. You need to find ways to investigate to determine the truth or falsehood of what I am saying.
Hope I have been able to be helpful.
I think you're absolutely right. After so many years of IBS issues I have found strategies to improve the problems significantly over the past year or so. It is for that reason that I didn't want to introduce something that brought the problems back. It helps to hear that it could be a trigger because i can monitor the effects with more confidence. You're also right about the stress aspect and I need to refrain from allowing my worries to make the whole situation worse.
Hello I am new on here but when I slipped my c7 disc I was offered pregablin. I did some reading up and realised it could help my restless legs along with the trapped nerve in my neck. I knew there had been reports on the side effects but I was in such acute nerve pain I agreed to give it a go.
However my experience was not good. I gained nearly 3 stone. My brain was in a constant fog. It threw my balance off. My speech was slurred and it gave me tremors . After two years I was wined off very slowly it took over 6 months .
Within a month of being rid I started to feel normal and it was amazing. The weight has fallen off. The fog lifted and my memory is so much better. Yes I still have rls but for me the small benifit it gave me wasn’t worth the side effects.
It is different for everyone I do have IBS and it did not make it worse.
Good luck Louise
Pregabalin and its sister Gabapentin are what I lovingly refer to as the 'marmite' drugs. You either love them or hate them. There is no middle.
You did extremely well to keep on them for so long. It is very easy to tell if they are suitable within a few weeks. Those symptoms you experienced stop people from continuing.
