I'm at 3 mos, total knee replacement, I hurt. My doctor says I should be healed. The ibuprofen nor the tylenol works. I've been working out with a recumbent bike and treadmill. I feel better when I'm moving, after I sit,,,my knee is swollen red/blackish. I put ice on it, only thing that helps. Then my knee stiffens up and I can not move it.At Three months I'm tired of so much pain. I go to doctor tomorrow to see about going back to work! I can Not. Too much pain. I need more time.

I am sorry to hear your in so much pain. Knees are funny things.

My knee is fine whilst I exercise and stiffens and swells when it rests.

But I am not in your sort of pain. I had injection in it.

Ask to speak to the doctor that did your operation .

Good luck,

Dear TrueS - Have you had a recent x-ray? If not, ask for one. Something may not be in place or is impinging on something. If an x-ray doesn't show anything, ask for an MRI or whatever imaging is recommended for your case. Also, is it possible that you're overdoing things with the recumbent and treadmill? That's a lot of stress on your knees. Can you scale back or stop for a few days and see how you feel, if you haven't tried that yet? I had both knees replaced about 3 years ago and, while things are much better, I still have pain and other issues. My doctor brushed me off, too. I live in a different state now, with no insurance, so I am just living with it. Are you able to swim? Great exercise and much less stress on the knees. Just wondering if that's a possibility for you.

See an Alexander Teacher. You need to learn how to use you muscles well. You are moving things but not moving them well. This is not good for future well knee.
