Chest Pains causing concern

Ok so have being having pains around chest for about 3/4 months also more recently hip and rib pain aswell as top back pain.

I have being on sertraline for almost 3 months now (was 50mg upped to 100mg New Years Eve) but have put on alot of weight since starting. Have being told it should balance it self out and also start a weight management class next Wednesday for 12 weeks.

Since dosage has being upped I keep on getting more of the pains around my left/centre breast area which are like a dull pain. It isnt all the time sometimes whilst laying other times I can be moving but it is there. I used to be able to take 2mg diazepam/Valium and this would settle but now I am taking 4mg and still having this pain on and off. I am concerned but my doctor/s aren't and tell me its not heart attack as that is normally caused by exercise and doesn't last this long, it's not enlarged heart as I have had chest xray and ecg also my age being 28 (29 this Sunday) they Would know by family history....... so what could this be, I have taken the medication for anxiety/depression and it is still occuring.

Also worth noting I have just finished a course of amoxicillin which was for a sore throat that was suspected to be a viral infection but that seems to have got better but still sore. I have found myself since increasing the Sertraline and taking the amoxicillin to be more fatigued and have had days in bed over the past 5 days.

I shall also be asking my Dr on Friday to test T3 and T4 (have already had TSH) aswell as D-dimer to rule out hyperthroyidism and a Pulminory embolism. I know some will be related to weight now as I am now weighing 255lbs - 260lbs (18.5-19 stone) with a height off 5 foot 11. But I see programs with people who are double this weight and not moaning about chest pains etc so I dont think it is all weight

I have also posted this in the British Heart Foundation and Anxiety area but would be interested to hear any of your thoughts as I have quite frankly had enough. A year ago I weighed 16 stone, was happy, able to work and do stuff around the home, play with my 3 children amd now im more a anchor pulling them all down and feel like I am a burden on my partner aswell as not being a good dad

Is the GP treating you for Anxiety.

What sort or exercise regime do you do. this can relate to sore ribs as can coughing, that can also cause pain as can breathing deep

Do you need to lift at work

I can have problems with my ribs caused by PSA. You mention the region T3-T4, see what they suggest when you have your Appointment

I am on sertraline for the anxiety was upped from 50mg to 100mg new years eve

My exercise regime since having the panic attack is very little as i was continuously light headed and felt I was going to pass out. I am waiting for a CBT therapist to call me, I have had my initial assessment and being told I need exposure treatment but have felt better and started walking outside a bit more and actually out shopping BUT since being on sertraline my weight has increased massively so I have also now being reffered to a weight managemeby group starting from next week.

I havent worked for 3 months now but before this happened was a labourer so always moving around now I would not be able to I need to address the weight as i think half my issues now are from this but I have also being told that the Sertraline can increase insulin and seeing as my parents are both diabetics And my father ia insulin resistant I have being told to get this checked also.

I was referring to blood test for thyroid appparently there is TSH (which is the normal blood test and I have had this) but also T3 and T4 for the thyroid which is normally not done.

I also checking for D-Dimer to ensure there isnt a clot anywhere (Pulminory Embolism) as I have also noticed shortness of breath but again think it may be partly due to the weight

I understand sitting in dry atmosphere can cause problems with breathing and if you cough that can upset the ribs/false ribs.

You mention you were a Laborer if you bend and lift badly this can not only effect the spine also the rib area. If you return to work, learn how to lift bend your legs keep the spine straight and the neck straight with the chin tucked in this takes the stress of the spine and disk areas.

From my weight problems I do have problems with carrying fat around the front and side of my trunk. When fat forms you would be surprised how much human fat weighs. If you ask the dietician some may have a model showing how heavy tummy fat is, you will be surprised how much additional fat can put stress on your body

You mention a sore throat that doesn't resolve and pain in the chest that is not of cardiac origin. Have you looked at the possibility of silent reflux?
