I have a diagnosis of chronic pain... it’s been ongoing for years. As a child I was dancing and a gymnast. A lot of heavy training very regularly. My pain started in my late 20’s . I have had this meds that med, physio & an X-ray found scroliosis at lower level...My pain is excruciating most days moving everywhere extreme headaches shoulders neck arms elbows wrists sciatica aching legs and ankles feel as though they will give way at any moment. I’m on Gabapentin, it clearly is not working !!! Any advice would be welcome ... I think I need a Mri

Hi NAT, those symptoms need checking out sound to familiar, like you said ask your GP for MRI of spine just to clear things up , gabberpentin is a good drug for nerve pain there is always pregabilin which is very similar did better for me than gabberpentin but you need to try and get your pain under control and hopefully if you have a scan you will get to the bottom of it x.cj
In my area a GP can't order an MRI scan. I had to wait 9 months to see Pain Management, then I got one. I have the results and they were worse than I
expected and have been referred to Complex Spinal MDT for their advices as I have RD and Osteoporosis as well and been on long term steroids. All the best to you as I am in lots of pain and can fully sympathise with you. X
Sorry you are struggling. Have you ever looked into Ehlers Danlos syndrome? I was just wondering as I have it myself and a lot of us used to be gymnasts or dancers but get into trouble later in life. Please have a read about it and see if you recognise yourself in the symptoms. Doctors most often miss diagnosing this. I really hope you get the help you need soon.
Hey morespoonplease & others ... I got through to my doctors today and booked a call back .... so u explained in detail my symptoms & I am seeing her next week for a consultation.... thankfully she was quite understanding and helpful. Told her my meds aren’t effective so we will relook at that. .... also a pain clinic and an mri / as I said this type of pain is taking away my will to fight ... it’s worse everyday .... so there’s my update xx
Hi Nat sorry to hear you are in so much pain. Given you are only on 1 painkiller, and it's mostly prescribed for nerve pain you,definitely need a medication review as well as an MRI. You say you're ankles and you're legs hurt. How do you manage walking around, attending appointments etc. Do you have help or have to go by yourself. All the best. Lola
Yes there all definates I’m seeing doc next week 🦋 . So hope to get some progress .... Gabapentin does not touch my pain. Luckily I’m supported @ home my daughter and son are brilliant .... bar my injuries from sports .... I’m 48 I’ve had 2 partners push me down full flights of stairs in my late teens the 1 st one ....
second I was 31 .... that was the worst drop u can imagine .... a spiral staircase.... still that was long ago, and I am not defeated or devined by these incidents .... never would anyone touch me now. My son is my protector ... I always think people get there karma xx
