Have you had an X ray of your pelvis or even better an MRI to find the cause?
Yes an MRI is a good idea. I had pain down my leg and MRI showed up the cause was a compressed nerve in my lumbar spine due to osteoarthritis. Nerves can be similarly pinched in the sacro-iliac joint and there could be inflammation. It's useful to know what's causing the pain, then you can decide what's best to do about it.
Apart from seeing a doc and getting prescription medicines I find getting treatment from an osteopath very helpful. He also does acupuncture.
You could try doing some piriformis stretches (look at you tube for to how to do them) as piriformis pain can be a cause of SIJ pain.
I have sacroiliac pain due to a hyper mobile SI joint and other health issues. Modifying activities has been what helps me the most - avoiding lifting even small amounts, avoiding twisting (like loading or unloading dishes, moving clothes from washer to dryer, etc). Again, I have other health issues too, but my friend with SI joint problems says those things help her too- so it may be worth trying. Also stretching, icing, use of a tens unit, physical therapy, and pain meds help.
As other posters have said, I definitely recommend seeing a doctor and/or physical therapists to try to determine the drivers of your pain. They'll know better what to tell you.
I hope you can get more relief soon!
Hi, I have some of the same problems, use ice, heat, muscle relaxer sometimes, Ibiprofro n, etc. What ever works at the time good luck.
I get that pain too, I had an accident & damaged my Sacroiliac ligament left side, lower back. I have had Steroid injections which were successful & lasted 2 years each time. It has calmed down for now after over six years of agony.
I hope this helps you!

Always straight to a osteopath!
Had it 8 years on and off but ive learnt it no good tryin to sit it out or laying or painkillers.
Get straight to a professional as soon as it happens and it usually goes within 2-3 sessions.
Ive now learnt to go once a month so i keep on top of it before it sneaks up on me.. also heat ( hot water bottle ) and on youtube u actually get sacro or sciatic exercises, if u do them there help u to.
Oh also DEEP HEAT?? Really help me
