I’ve just been told that I have got trapped nerves in my back that it is so painful sitting on my chairs walking or travelling on a bus and I have servear arthritis in my knee and ankle that I have trouble walking now so I’ve got to have a operation on my knee and my ankle strapped-up.

Hi Jimmy Jimmy, it's an awful vicious circle isn't it? It stands to reason that when a person has difficulty walking due to arthritis and chronic pain in one's limb's it's bound to affect your back. I feel the reason for the nerves in your back being trapped is in how you have been walking. When I was young my Mum would always pull me if I didn't sit upright and of course I was told one shouldn't cross ones legs whilst sitting as it can affect your spine. The same was true of how I carried myself when I walked. My Mum kept drumming it into me the importance of maintaining a good posture. But I now know my dear Mum was 100% correct! It is no wonder your nerves in your back have been affected, you poor man it must be agonising having Arthritis in both your knee and ankle, they are responsible for the trapped nerve in your back. I also have a trapped nerve in my back so I do know the agonising pain it causes, mine is also due to my broken heel which is so painful with arthritis which in turn caused me to walk unnaturally and as a consequence I get a trapped nerve in my back. I can hear my , Mum's voice saying it's all about good posture haha! Anyway Jimmy Jimmy your Doctor is tackling your pain in the correct manner, he is sending you to have an operation on your lower limb and what sometimes can happen is once you have had your op your back can repair itself naturally because without a doubt your posture will be much better after your op😄 Good luck with your op, thinking of you with abundant positivity for a brighter future
