Please can anyone tell me the length of time you are in hospital following a battery change. I know I go in one day and have battery changed the next but as yet nothing more. I go to the Walton Centre for post op on 28th Sept and go in on Tuesday 2nd Oct. Just wondered if anyone else has had a rechargeable battery changed. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you. Change of rechargeable battery
Yes, I've had a battery change with my stimulator and it was relatively simple. I had a fault with either my unit connectors or my battery so
I had my initial battery change under local anaesthetic as they needed to test my unit whilst I was awake. Unfortunately it wasn't the battery but the wiring so had to have a new stimulator fitted, so the whole lot out and a completely new unit put in. This was after 15yrs having it working wonderfully well.
I had another battery replaced in 2005 and all was just a simple battery replacement. I was in and out in just under an hour and on my way home after 4 hrs. Everything was good to go again and everything has been great since then. If you need to know anything else then please ask and hope this helps
Thank you for the information. I had my admission letter today and go in on Tuesday 2nd,surgery to change battery on Wednesday and am discharged home Thursday/Friday. My battery is one that I am able to recharge myself as needed and I have 16 electrodes attached to my spinal cord. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my post, I do appreciate it.
