I had a Nevro HF10 scs implanted 2 weeks ago. I had a Medtronic scs in memory this one. The new one has been put in the same place as the old battery (lower left back) which is causing some problems. The Nevro is about twice the size of the Medtronic and is clearly visible through my skin (and dressing).
What I guess I'm looking for is someone who has had the same done to them and to know how they got on. My Medtronic one stuck through a bit and one corner would always hurt. But with this being so much bigger I don't know how, or if, I can tolerate it. In this position.
It is doing its job though and is really helping. I've found a program that is really helping.
Thanks.

I had a Nevro perm implant 19th January this year - the battery site was extremely sore for the first few weeks. But as the swelling lessened and the tissues settled it was ok.
Mine has since moved again and can be seen under the skin but unless I knock it it doesn't cause pain. Hoping you are getting on well with it otherwise
Not sure whether you are aware there is a closed facebook group - Nevro Senza spinal cord stimulator Uk - lots of support from folk who have or are going to have the same stim
That's great! Thank you so much for that Shirley! I'll definitely looking to that group.
Do you remember how long you were on additional pain meds for? I'm on all the usual suspects, transform, diazapam and others plus they have put me on oxycodone. It helps for short bursts but still really struggling. I'm now 2 weeks 3days post op.
I'm not going to bore you with whats going on with me as its not really related to the Nevro. When you see the FB group you will see a recent update from me - I can't bear to write it again if you don't mind. What I will say is that you are in very very early days of recovery. Theres a whole lot of healing to happen, the scarring around the leads to hold them in place. Please please take the guidance very seriously - no twisting, bending or reaching for at least 8 weeks, longer if you can bear it. If you move the leads before they are bedded in they will have to be resited and may not manage to get them back to optimum position
Are you struggling because you are trying to do too much I wonder? It may not seem it but it is a huge surgery and lots of healing going on that you may not even think of.
Please take care and take it easy, rest up when you can
Hi, I had a Medtronic SCS before this one. They took that out and replaced it with this. Most of the pain is from the battery. The Medtronic one was a lot smaller then this. About 2/3 smaller. I can't sit back or lay down and be pain free. I remember when I had my last one put in it was nowhere near as painful as this. I'm on my way to hospital now so they can have a look and see if it's OK and to have the stitches out. All 63 of them.
Thanks, I am being as careful as possible. It's a great excuse to get me out of washing up.
I hope you get on ok at the hospital J - I remember that stage very well, it required lots of padding and pillows. It felt like knives in my bum!! But it settled and now am hardly aware of it even tho it has moved.
I took part in the clinical trials for this wonderful bit of kit and was implanted in June 2010. Yes it a bit of a headfuk that this (what appears huge) piece of metal is so close to the surface and even 7 years down the road I sometimes have a good feel around and can easily convince myself it's getting closer to popping right out!!!!!....of course this is not the case...panic over till the next time......Ha!!!
It does take a lot of getting used to but stick with it, everyday it does get easier and with me my post-op pain relief is about on average 70% less.
There are still really bad days but sooooo many more good ones and as you know if you're still managing (no matter how much) without Nevro SPS then think how fantastic to obtain that amount of pain relief .........so it's a bit sticky out and door handles are your sworn enemy........Ha!!..............could be worse you could have a hairy wart on the end of your nose!!!!........................think on that for a moment?????????????
had my Nevro HF10 fitted December 2017 I have to say my pain has reduced to about a 5 but my implant pain is around the 10 mark .I have pain going down my legs all the time I had a cat scan to see if lead was on a nerve but ok.My consultant has put me on pre gablin been on them before as he says he cant move the box will make it worse
hi badbackjonny,,,, I feel your pain, literally, concerning the Nevro Battery. I had the trial & went fine. Of course, no battery issue since outside body. I was excited to get the Implant. That changed after the battery pain began. I've had the implant since June 2022. Now November 2022. The pain from the battery took away any pain reduction I had. Never had pain on the left. Now left side always in pain from the battery. it's top half sits right on my belt line. So that makes even worse. I've seen the Nerologist 3 times. He said he could move it but only to the otherside. But i'm not going thru another surgery to find out I'm still in pain. I am giving it 7 or 8 mths total. If it doesn't stop hurting, I'm having it removed. You would think a surgeon would put it where the pain is minimal. But Nope, they can't do that.
