SORRY if this is a silly question but when GP/Dr prescribes your meds do they look at your body weight..i ask because when am in a flare up my GP says to take extra Pregabalin etc for extra pain relief..am on 2 x 75 a day but can double up...only am thinking that as a larger lady...I need more than an average size person..I know when i've had surgery they look at your weight for anesthesia ...am wondering as, know someone who has just started on pregabalin on a very low dose 25gm and she is a petite lady
Any views...
Thank you

Answer is no. Only time body weight matters is when having a general anesthetic.
When you have a flair up your muscles go into spasms or cramps which your normal dose of pain meds can't deal with. So....taking a bit more should ease those muscles and bring everything back to a level you can manage.
Thanks Bananas5..am overthinking everything at moment as felt OK Sunday thru Monday -walked more than usual with crutch but now have stinging bees in knee (swollen arthritic knee} and terrible lower back pain since Tuesday and couldn't make it to work yesterday and now today..so in a flare up and upping my pain relief when the 'weight' thought came...yes believe i need to listen to body better as when feeling energetic i do more walking but then payback {is a bitch😈} for next few days..
Weight is a sensitive issue for discussion.since being on Pregabalin i've gained almost 3 stone and obviously thru lack of any meaningful exercise have piled on the pounds! My mind wants to go and exercise but my body fails me..so frustrating...
I feel your pain when I went to see my PC the nurse asked me if I could take my weight. I almost said no but my husband was there so I knew I could stand on the scale with him and the nurse so I said yes. Let me tell you it was tricky. I got on the scale slowly and once I was balanced I said ok let me go. For that split second I was standing on my own and she got it. That wasn’t a nice number, you see I haven’t been on a scale in over a year.
I've never heard of doctors making allowances for weight, but sometimes I've wondered when a 'normal' dose of a drug doesn't work for me.
I put on weight with pregabalin too - the balance between weight making things worse and pain is hard. However, I've now gone low carb - not easy given my love of chocolate but it's been a month now and I've lost a stone even though I can't exercise. The extra food prep is tough, though my son helps and friends have offered to help do vegs for my freezer (plus buying ready-made salads).
So far I'm doing OK, and I let myself have to odd treat of 70% choc or high protein stevia icecream.
I too am a chocoholic...and do also like the pasta but always have a good side salad with no dressings at all with meals...its hard and frustrating...
Good your son helps with meal prep...my daughter left home (she is a very healthy eater and introduced me to hummus etc) a few months ago and my diet is not as good as it was...
and in a flare up i don't really have an appetite but know i have to line my stomach otherwise i will create more problems.Hope you having a better day
