Oh dear I thought I was getting there got used to having carers in got used to wheelchair around house just getting used to go out the front of house in wheelchair not doing to bad with pain now I have problems with eyes have to go to the hospital to see someone about it as having difficulty seeing when is it going to end speak or try to speak to a doctor and get told it’s the pills it was the eye person that was asking for hospital appointment the doctor seems to be putting everything down to pills with no talk about if they can be sorted out a bit no nothing

I’ve tried asking to speak to other doctors and got told you can’t do that these days I know I am 72 years of age but it would be nice to be able to talk to a doc I have no problem with other consultants but when it comes down to this one doctor I don’t know what to do I’m always polite to him as anyone else had this problem thank you

Best person to start with would be your optician. He can tell a lot...he is the expert not your GP

This is the general route to seeing an eye specialist. With eyes I always think to do everything I can to safeguard them. Sight is precious as Bananas will tell you.

I am sure the eye hospital will know whether its medication that is causing the problem or another condition developing.

Hope it goes well for you

I am on Pregabalin, similar to gabapentin, and started having eyesight problems a while ago.

My optician asked my GP to get me an appointment with the eye clinic who ruled out the common issues and referred me on to a neurologist. I had more tests and they found out I had a vitamin deficiency - folic acid.

My eyesight has been better since going on a folic acid supplement.

I since found some research showing that pregabalin and gabapentin can cause folic acid, B12 and Vit D deficiencies.

So I am on Vit D and folic acid, and because my symptoms are a little worse again my GP is now retesting my B12 level.

Good luck!
