Hi! I'm 66 and of a good weight. The past month I have had a lot of pain in my calves. Even when not walking :/ Any thoughts? David

Hi Dave are you taking a Statin by any chance?
Yes since 1999 although my cholesterol levels are OK. I was prescribed them whilst living in California. Atorvistatin
David I would suggest you mention the leg pain to your doctor. I am a respiratory physiologist and have found that about 60% of my patients get muscle pain in their arm and leg muscles, which can be directly attributed to Statins. Usually the pain will stop almost immediately you stop taking statins. I Suggest your doctors take regular blood tests to check your lipostats. Don't worry it's nothing to worry about.
Take care Rob.
Thank you so much Rob. I am seeing my GP next week and the appointment is about my leg pain. I'm lucky in that my GP and I have a great relationship so will doubtless be well looked after.
Thank you kindly
David
Hi I agree to go to the doctors as this could be anything but needs checking out. It's possible your circulation has become worse or you might have the beginnings of varicose veins etc. It does sound like Jessen might have hit the nail on the head. Let us know how you get on. x
Hi.. Could be a circulatory problem, best get it checked out.
Blood test to rule out DVT if you have been recently flying or had injury. You should be fine... speak to gp if medical stocking will help with blood circulation. Take care
Have you had any back operations / pain? Are you a diabetic (Type 1, 2)? I have pain from my unusual gait which is down to long term back surgery as I am also a Type 2 Diabetic I also get health care professionals bring up neuropathic pain when I mention calf pain to them. Certainly worth while getting the latter looked at along with circulation issues and statins.
I thought statins might be the cause of my pain as I have been taking them them since 2000. Unfortunately this was not the cause in my case.
