Just got back from the Dr who is new and lovely she listened to me examined me. I then got some new meds severedol 10 mg every 4 hours I am reducing Tramodol (been on over 10 years) AND get a review with the same Dr in two weeks!! I also am getting referred back to pain clinic to see about patches.
I am so happy I have a plan thank you to all of you on here who have answered my posts. I had no real hope or confidence in getting anywhere due to past negative experiences. I burst into tears leaving the surgery for the first time in years I have HOPE.
Real hope for a forgotten quality of life I used to have I would not of had the courage to try resigned to my pain thank you again.

Hi Winnie the poo.. I replied to your post as I thought it was great you finally got somewhere, but having looked up the meds you've been prescribed I see they are morphine based.
With chronic pain they really are effective. The downside is they are also more addictive. Off hand, I can't remember what the cause of your pain is, so I'm hoping that somehow you can tackle the source of your pain by other means, instead of just masking it, and end up having to take ever increasing doses to survive, because the body gets used to it..
Can you remind me what it is you are suffering from. as I have a friend who survives on morphine and I often fear for her. because she relies on the meds rather than trying to improve the quality of her life by dietary changes and exercise.. even in a small way.Sorry it sounds negative... I don't mean to be... but morphine can lure you down that road... as can any opioid.
So come back to us and let's revisit your situation and see if there are any changes you can make which can have a positive effect on your condition now you are in such a positive frame of mind.... you take care x.
Thanks for your thoughts my pain is due to internal scar tissue caused by three surgeries.
1. Ruptured eptopic pregnancy causing internal bleeding and less than fifty percent chance of survival.
2. Large ovarian cyst that twisted my fallopian tube 6 months after first surgery back in to have this removed.
3 Again back in surgery to have scar tissue cut away as my bowel had fused.
I was then left on Tramodol which never fully took the pain away but along side Tens paracetamol heat patches and Amitripyline I coped. Over the last couple of years ( 8 years on Tramadol) the pain has gotten worse more bad days than OK ones. I lost my mum a close friend and my Gran over a couple of years so addressing my worsened pain was caught up in life event's and the fear of withdrawals from Tramodol stopped me going to Dr.
However after therapy for a few crappy things I have gone through combined with the Tramodol working less and mainly not at all. I thought F!!* this and went to a different Doctor and you know the rest. The morphine is short term until I get to see pain specialist. I am taking five Tram with the intention of slowly stopping altogether. I do not eat fried food and eat a lot of fibre I take multi vitamins and don't not drink or smoke. I am looking forward to having better days and a lot less 9 or 10 flare ups. Hope your having a good day x
