It makes me so angry when doctors say "wear and tear". I have lots of Osteoarthritis also, and my husband has.

Have you ever had a blood test to check your levels of Vitamin D? You could have absorption issues because you have IBS. You may have Diverticular. It may be worth considering asking your GP to check Vit D, and other nutrients levels as well, in particular: B12, Folate, Ferritin and Calcium.

Is there an Epilepsy Organisation or any support group you know of who could help with your Capability for Work questionaire?

All the pain and symptoms are more than enough to be dealing with. We could do without having to have these forms to fill in as well.

Hope you find someone reliable to help you with the form.

Have you considered contacting epilepsy action for advics/support? Would they be able to help with the form?

Their number is free from all mobiles and landlines :

0808 800 5050

Also there is a forum/community on healthunlocked :

epilepsysociety.org.uk

their phone numbers are :

helpline 01494 601 400 and

enquiries 01494 601 300 (switchboard).

If you are applying for ESA, then it is all about how your conditions affect you, not what they actually are. I agree that if you know of an Epilepsy support group that can help you, that might be the best route to go.

Have a look online for 'benefits and work' there are sites that can give you advice as to how to fill the form in.

If you have copies of MRI scans, then these should be sent with the form, plus what medication you are on and how they affect you.

I honestly believe it is wear and tear as I've lived on my own for 39 years I'm 73 now done all my own decorating and gardening over the years worked as a hairdresser standing for over 48 years whilst Carrying two babies till a week before they were born as had my own business started back work straight after single parent for most of my life and generally worn out pain and arthritis in all my hands and joints especially Base of my spine. being too independent hasn't helped and now I'm suffeying for it and tablets are useless

It's possible to have both conditions. Both are from your joints wearing out or degenerating may be more proper word. I have lower back problem and sciatica with shoulder problems they labeled as osteoarthritis and neck problems. So...what I'm saying it's common to have both conditions going on at same time. I take 8hr Arthritis pain relief 650mg each extended release tabs, which is over the counter actamenophen, which I take along with prescribed meds. Helps me...but ask doctor about.

Osteoarthritis is wear and tear of the joints. A process that occurs in all of us as we age. In some people, like myself, the process happens at an earlier age than others. Some people experience more pain and difficulty than others with the same degree of degeneration.

I understand that Osteoarthritis can occur following injury. It can occur with malabsorption issues causing Vitamin D deficiency which has been unknown & left untreated. Adequate Vitamin D is essential for the absorption of calcium - without it calcium can be deposited in the wrong places tissue, blood vessels instead of bones.

Hi Theresa

Sorry but I've only just seen the notification for this reply.

Sorry to hear of the enormity of this awful pain you are in. But WHY are you having to wait for an injection ???

Have you had a diagnosis yet? Is it sciatica? A trapped nerve? Have you been to A&E? I think I would go to A&E. Is there anyone who could take you? If you can't walk or be helped into a car then I would call for an ambulance.

I hope you get some proper help and medical care this morning. Your only other option I think is going to A&E. Or calling a GP out. What is your pain level ? Is it 9 out of 10 or 10/10?

theresa38 profile image
theresa38 in reply to Mary-intussuception
