I don't have a diagnosis but my gp gave me Baclofen to have for 7 days I have been on it for 4 days and noticed no difference in my pain levels, has anyone else tried it? If so what for and did it help?

Bacclofen is given as a muscle relaxant. You don't say where your pain is.

The pain is mostly in my spine but I get it in the rest of my body too, I have had head and back MRIs but both came back normal

It is the tight muscles protecting the 'injury' which causes the pain. By giving you Bacclofen it is hoped this will ease them.

Stick with it for the 7 days them tell your GP the results and see what he says.

Hello,

Baclofen is use mostly for spasticity, the doctor prescribed it for you probably for your stiff and spastic muscles and usually you may take it for two weeks however it is not usually prescribed for long term use. Give it a chance to loosen those tightness and you may take other analgesics with it if the pain is too much. Good luck!

I have been on it but it made me sick. I was on it for my back so the muscles can calm down and relax.

Hi Rachel

Have you asked your GP for a diagnosis and prognosis? This has been going on for 7 months now hasn't it? Have you asked GP what conditions have been eliminated by tests so far?

You could ask for a print out of all your blood tests results.

Have you Googled Baclofen?

All I know is my head and back MRIs came back clear and my blood count and blood pressure is fine.

I have just moved gp due to moving, this was after my first appointment, he thinks its fibromyalgia but my last gp was so focused on trying to give me pain relief for my headaches he didnt really discuss my body pain.

I know a few people with fibromyalgia though and I dont agree with the doc.

Since taking the Baclofen I have felt so much worse, I dont know if it is because of the medication or just that I am having a bad week though

Hello, I have been on Baclofen for 3yrs now but can explain why so long for me. In 2006, I fractured L-5/S1 which required a fusion but was unsuccessful and had a 2nd fusion in "08" which fused but didn't help the pain. It created more problems, in "09" fell out of a chair and tore my miniscus in the left knee which had surgery for that too!

But, with the scar tissue and the disc above them going out I was referred to get a "Spinal Cord Stimulator" put in to try and help with my chronic pain. I had the implant put in last year which has helped to some degree. I am currently taking Hydrocodone, Clonazepam, Diazepam, Cyclobenzaprene, Baclofen, Zoloft, Clonidine, Zolpidim, Busprirone, Vesicare to help my back, plus sleep, anxiety and depression! This all has been going on since my injury while going through a Divorce with 3 children! Yes, I have good days and some bad ones too like today, was looking for some questions on the implant due to my implant hurting so much that I have groin and left leg weakness from it.

For your questions about "Baclofen" the only issue I have is that my body temperature goes up and start sweating just walking to the kitchen. That can be frustrating for me when I am out in public and embarrassing too. Just follow the "GP's" directions and keep him informed about any issues...
