Costs, nothing your best option would be to get an appointment with the Pain Nurse. This was the best thing done for me and now I have got medication which really help, I am no longer a nightmare to love with.! Try and stay positive xxxx

Ask your Doctor to test your Thyroid function with a small blood test. The Thyroid can cause Carpal Tunnel syndrome. I have that as well. It affects me on line sometimes, I adjust my Thyroxine and it subdues. The best thing is to get a referral to a "Pain Management Clinic" about the spine. My spinal condition is different from day to day.

Have you considered cortisone shots for your back? An orthopedic is the one who would do that. I am 61 and have the same issues as you. Have for 5 years. My life has changed drastically since then. Arthritis is the cause of the spine issues. But there may be more issues. You need an MRI. Good luck and God bless!

An idea only - get your vitamin B12 and vitamin D bloods checked.

Lower back and pain travelling down to hip, could be low vitamin D (not saying yours is,) also you mentioned upper spine and numbness - check your vitamin B12 blood levels, low or deficient can cause these too, again not saying this is what you have.

My lower back and hip pain was down to deficient vitamin D.

Vitamins B12 and D often go hand in hand.

Also as ReccyMech said check your thyroid as Thyroid B12 and D can all go hand in hand. Idea only - many on 'Thyroid UK' here on Health Unlocked ask for a printout of any bloods done and their ranges too.
