Gabapentin and effect on kidneys

Hi there, I know there have been numerous posts on gabapentin but cannot see any on kidney symptoms. I am on 1200 mg a day and do not seem to suffer any side effects at all other than I keep on having a slight pain in my kidney area in the mornings. Just wondering if anybody else has had this?

Rare (less than 0.1%): Hepatitis, jaundice, elevated liver function tests SGOT (AST), SGPT (ALT), and bilirubin, hepatomegaly, hepatotoxicity

That seems all to be related to the liver. I know it is rare nevertheless but was just wondering.

Oh my goodness, I have the same! I have been on them for about 2 months now. Will be interesting g to see the response to this.

Interesting, I have been on them for about the same time or possibly a bit less. At first I thought it was muscular but why is it just there every morning and then disappears?

I was taking 1200 mg of gabapenton daily also. The only side effect I got was that I was having trouble breathing. And it was getting worse ,so I cut back to only take one 400mg when my nerve pain or corporal tunnel sets in.

Thanks Jmett. Still having a bit of bother but past 8 days am having bad stomach pain. Contacted specialist yesterday who told me to cut back to 900mg a day and see him in 2 weeks unless things get worse. Will see what happens.
