Depends on the dose you are on. on the lowest dose you might not notice a difference.

I'm on 12mg/hr.

I think but not sure, that is a low starting dose to see how you get on with it. I was going to check and then realised I didn't have the remaining patches anymore. That first low dose did not help with my pain at all. I do know I was on the lowest dose to start with. So if it's not working for you on that dose, your GP may put you on the next dose up to see how you get on with that.

They are very good. What dose have you started on?

Hi I'm on 12mg/hr

That's the lowest possible dose.

I don't know what you have had before but you may need slightly stronger. But good starting low and see how you get on.

Some people have an allergy to the sticky on them. Use a little hydrocautisone cream rbbed well in.

Also they have been known to come off in shower. Yards of micropore tape will solve that!

I'm on all sorts of meds Oramorph and Dihydrocodine amongst others.

I used Fentanyl patches for several years. Starting at 25 micro grams/72hr. I was told that I may need to use a few DF118 until the patches kicked in over the first 7 to 14 days.

Like Paton says it is difficult to advise as we do not know what medication these have been prescribed to replace. Also your doctor will have a far better idea as to your reaction to previous opiates. Plus people's skin varies in its porosity and its ability to take in the Fentanyl.

Kind regards, Rib

I was on these patches and couldn't stop vomiting it was constant the times I wasn't vomiting I was very nauseous until the vomiting came they made me really ill dr eventually changed me to mst continuous release tablets (morphine) I've been great on these occasionally I have to have them increase due to pain and the nausea returns but at least I can adjust the tablets to my pain levels I shudder to just hear the words fentanyl patch now because they made me so ill hopefully you don't suffer as I did good luck

I was on these a few years ago but had to come off them as the patches burnt my skin!!

I still have a scar on my abdomen with is about 1.5cm square, the perfect match to a patch. They'd burn leaving bf a horrible square red blotch which was painful and itchy and took about 5 months to disappear properly. Parts of my body looked like a chess board where they had been applied. My GP gave me cream but that didn't help. In the end I gave up and went back onto Oxy's, which brought its own issues!!

Good luck, I hope they work well for you!!

Hello I just read your post about the patches you were on, I am on Butec patches for pain relief just recently they have burnt my skin and they itch like crazy, I have got loads of places on my skin where these patches have been and like yourself look like a chess board, I am at the moment talking with my pharmacist and doctor about stopping them, how long did it take for the marks on your skin to disappear? Mine are very rough and dry and have been like this for some time now, I am from the UK

Hi seasidecol, I don't know 🤷‍♀️ where to start...

1st thing to do is go back to your GP and ask ' is it true that Fentanyl is 50-70 times stronger than HERION!' 2nd, ask what kind of help is out there for those of us who want to come off of Fentanyl... I'm tapering off of a 50 Fentanyl patch ... I've just posted this 30 minutes ago, as I need help. My carer is beside herself looking after me.

Please think long and hard before taking Fentanyl...

IT IS ADDICTIVE... IT IS A SERIOUS DRUG...

People can die of overdoses, please please think about this very carefully before you put on a PATCH.

Hi, can anyone help me please. I was on Fentanyl Patch 50, I started to reduce 3 weeks ago. I went down 13 mcg from the 50 mcg patch. I've had 3 weeks of sheer hell with the withdrawal symptoms. Headache, stomach cramping, diarrhoea, bruised skin feelings of bruising all over my body, vomiting and feeling sick, body jerking, especially in legs, as well as my normal daily body spasms and excruciating pain. I went to see my GP who was wonderful and he said this is how YOUR body is withdrawing. I asked about going into rehab but there are no rehab clinics for prescription drugs, I couldn't believe this. I didn't start this patch with this GP, and I didn't know that Fentanyl is 50-70 times stronger than Herion!!! I can't see an end to this pain and mental torture , but I have to come off of the patch as it's not working for me after nearly 6 years taking it. Has anyone else come off of Fentanyl who can advise me or help me before I go mad. Doctors gave me the patch due to chronic pain, no one said how difficult it would be to come off of it. The depression on top of everything else is dragging me down.

I have been on Fentanyl patches for over 5 years and find them to be a great help!

Me too. I have also managed to stay at the same dosage for a couple of years. With the latest theories in chronic pain continuous medication seems to make sense. I also use oxycodone for breakthrough pain. I can understand why some people are fearful of opiates and that some people have horrendous side effects and experiences but for me they have lots of side effects but none worse than my pain. Hope you get some relief soon.

They aren't doing anything for me. I've had the dose doubled to 25mg. I get tired with it but that's all I still am in pain and the breakthrough pain is unbearable 😩

I don't know why I have a hard time with meds. Maybe I feel that I may have reaction. I want to go natural with cbd or marijuana but expensive. Waiting for Medicare but pain is so bad.
