I am really sorry to hear how bad things are still after you knee replacement. While most people are significantly better, sometimes things don't work out. Have you been back to see your consultant? You could ask for a referral to see someone else too who might be able to figure out why you are still in so much pain. It might be useful to see a pain specialist rather than go though this. I hope things get more comfortable for you.

Following my knee replacement, I found things improved considerably, but as the nerves reconnected there was some pain, which eventually lessened. Has there been this level of pain throughout the whole period since your surgery, or has it come on gradually? Also, what has your surgeon said? Is the joint working well, and the pain is there despite this, or is there a problem with the joint? Sometimes things do go wrong, and if this is one of those times, you should be able to have a second opinion from a specialist who revises other surgeons work. Go back to see your surgeon, or, if you have already seen him/her, ask for a second opinion. You can ask your GP to refer you to a surgeon in another district, if you are no longer confident with the treatment that you received in your home area - Look for a surgeon who specialises in Revision knee surgery, and don't be afraid to push if you are confident that the knee is to blame for this pain. Remember that hip pain may be referred down to the knee, and if your newly corrected knee has had an effect on your hip working, you may be experiencing a hip problem instead! Ask your GP to investigate this too - my hip had been fine when my knee was bad (I damaged it aged 15 and only got treatment when 57!) but within two years my hip had become so bad that it had to be replaced! It seems that the old song was correct - the knee bone IS connected to the hip bone!
