A ruptured appendix is a very traumatic event for both brain & body so the recovery time will take time; you're in the older age range to experience this so it will have taken even more 'out of you'!! The added issue of having an upset stomach as a side effect of the antibiotics will make you feel lousy too so you're having to use lots of energy to recover from that as well.
What pain meds were you prescribed and are you still requiring them? When is your follow up appointment? If you're worried that you're not recovering, I'd say make an appointment to see your GP to let them know what's going on unless the follow up is within the next few days.
What's your appetite like? If it's not great, it may be why you're feeling tired; the body uses lots of energy to heal so it could be a factor? Pain can stop us eating correctly too.....
Like I've said, an appointment with your GP is definitely the next step.....
hi roccadave,I understand your situation as I also had my appendix taken out with an abscess that ruptured, but I had to have a lower cavity wash out cleansing procedure done as the abscess had ruptured into my bowels and had to full open surgery,I was 43 at the time, and I had 3 months off work but was advised to take 4 months off,and also had to have a course of antibiotics after being in hospital for 3 weeks,it was touch and go for me as l nearly left my situation of a point of no return so yes its very painful recovery and a long road to getting your general health back and with your older age to be taken into hand the healing process will be longer,so don't rush around, don't do any heavy lifting,or stretching,so be good to your body, eat a healthy diet with plenty of protein, chicken, fish, and a nice steak as long your not a vegetarian, good luck with your recovery and have a good Christmas 🎅
