Hi, I am new to this. I have post stroke pain, drugs aren't helping and I am so tired of pain 24/7. It is getting worse everyday and I just want to die. Does anyone out there have this condition as I feel I am the only one.

Unbearable life
Hello Kingstripes - you have come to the right place if you suffer chronicc pain. Lots of support, understanding from fellow sufferers and a wealth of experience from members.
You say your meds don't help? What have you been prescribed? And any alternatives to meds?
Happy to help if I can

What sorts of drugs do you take, are they introducing you for any Physio ?
Bob
How long ago was your stroke? My mum had a stroke 2 years ago, and suffered a lot of pain afterwards, she had a lot of physio, that was sometimes itself painful, and it has eased off. Don't get me wrong, she does still have pain, but bearable now. Speak to your doctor, explain how bad it is and how you're feeling about it all. Maybe contact the stroke association, they are great, they will understand what you are feeling and maybe able to offer some advice. It can get better, I understand that pain is very very wearing, I suffer from fibro. Pain relief gels like voltarol can help, epsom salt baths, magnesium oil. It will get better eventually, please speak to your doctor.

There are lots of us out here in same predicament.
There is medication which will help and your GP will help you find that help.

Hi I too have it, I'm so sick of pain and trying to make the best of it. Pain clinic have nothing more to offer me either.
Really makes you depressed but what I do now is I have a good long cry but then I look around and think it could be so much worse. Don't get me wrong I've gone ballistic with rage and frustration because of it before now, been horrible to people and smashed things.
However theres so many people terminally ill and others who have nobody to talk to or love them, I know it's difficult when the pain is unbearable and you feel like you can't go on, the doctors are useless and your quality of life is poor but it's the only thought process that gets me through it. Of course you have to think of your family too.
Hope your feeling a bit brighter today
Take care

thanks. I am in Gippsland Victoria and have not met any one else with central pain syndrome. I have been on the cps website but have not had a reply from them. How long have you had cps?
Hello again Kingstripes
I have a very close friend in Gippsland who has MS as well as other conditions. In a wheelchair at this moment she is sailing on the tall ship Tenacious from Melbourne to Sydney still in her wheelchair!
Would it help if I introduced you to her? She has a wealth of knowledge and could help pit you in touch with some people?

I had the stroke three years ago but I also have fibromyalgia, M.E and arthritis. Here in the U.K I don't think they call it cps ( as far as I know) it's either chronic pain syndrome or fibromyalgia. Honestly the Uk are so far behind in the medical world.
It's that pain that gets you down isn't it? No matter what I try it doesn't seem to treat that particular type of pain, opioids, anti inflammatory or the likes of gabepentin just didn't help.
My cps is due to a stroke to the Thelma's which has damaged my central nervous system. Drugs do nothing and no one can give me a prognosis.
