as a sufferer with pn i can sympathise with your frustration,I've tried every possible type of medication that's available to me,my problems are mainly in my lower legs, which at night time get more intense,i also get the pains from my shoulders going into my hands,my personal journey has now come to an end,and I'm sorry to say but 10% of people that have this condition tend to have this illness to our sell buy date, however keep going back to your GP and ask to try every medication that's possible to relieve your symptoms,i take a tablet called mitrazapine at night time and also have lidocane patches which contains local anaesthetic and that along with the pre gabalin keeps this condition at it's level that is at it's best bearable,I'm sorry its not the news you probably don't want to hear but the nerve endings in the body sometimes cant repair themselves,i can't stress enough if you drink alcohol that this is something that you should seriously consider abstaining from, eat healthy,it's a invisible condition and it can make you feel totally fed up,i wish you all the best with your search for the right balance of medication and try and occupy your brain as this can also help distract you from any symptoms good luck

Hi.

That's a good idea, do you take Amtriptline ?? This is a good medication for our condition.

It's taken at night time just before bed as it will make us sleep straightaway.

I'm currently having big problems getting sleepy so I take it 5mins beforehand.

My dose is it's max dose so you should be started on it,s lowest. I think this is around the 10mg mark.

Please let me know how things go ???

Steve.

If it were me, I would have a chat with my local pharmacist about the potential for any side effects of the meds. They should be able to help. Failing that, a chat with the GP.

Best wishes,

Dave

I am sorry to hear about your pain. I have suffered with hereditary peripheral neuropathy for over 25 years. I was diagnosed by Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota after they performed a third failed surgery on my feet. They told me, sorry, go home and read the Bible, we do not know why some people have to suffer. Back then they wouldn't prescribe any pain meds for chronic pain. I had a three year old and an eight month old at home. 25 yrs. later, I still live in debilitating chronic pain. I use Nucynta ER 150 mg, Diluoxetine, and Amitriptyline 75 mg. I am a Medical Technologist and had to use a motorized wheelchair to perform my job. I don't let it stop me, however. I am an avid cyclist and just completed the RAIN ride which is 160 miles, one day, one way. I pay the price, however with much more pain. But some times it is just worth it. It sounds like you are having an adverse reaction to the medicine and I would tell my doctor at once. Hang in there, and keep me posted.

Hi.

I have also got neuropathic pain.

I have had itchy blotches on my legs for the past few years.

The only med that you have mentioned that is the same as you is Lycria.

I hope that this helps??

Steve.

Sounds like you have an allergic reaction.I,too am on Lyrica, Duloxetine and 30mg Cocodamal but fortunately no blisters.I do find my skin has become very dry so perhaps you need to apply moisturiser to keep the skin supple.
