Welcome Lauren. Your wrist pain could be any of a number of conditions.
Did you injure it at any time - could be a muscle or ligament injury. Does a Diflac type rub help the pain?
Does the pain extend beyond the wrist area. How is it affected by tensioning- stretching the thumb- which way is more painful?
You could check up on Carpel tunnel syndrome.
Come back with more information. Most strains get better if you rest them.
You could try icing it for ten mins every hour .
Do you use that thumb for texting- could be repetitive muscle strain.Stop using that thumb. 😊
Good luck.
Hi Lauren7899, I recently had surgery on my left thumb. It hurt anytime My thumb moved or my wrist turn certain way. It was a nerve being pinched at the thumb joint. The surgery did get rid of the pain. I dealt with the pain for around 8 months. I purchased a brace at Walmart to wear before I even saw a Dr. Thinking maybe I had injured it, and that it might just need to heal itself but that wasn't it. Dr. Could Said it could happened likely over use from the phones and tablets or computer
I have pain at the same place. Mine is due to arthritis. It hurts to grap objects, to try to turn objects and to hold like the phone too long while texting. Hope u find our what ur pain is caused from.
sounds very much like arthritis, I had to give up crochet because of it in the same place. There are some good anti-inflammatory gels out there that will help, my doctor gave me Phorpain, [i kid you not, that is what its called] despite the silly name, its Ibruphen, works well, but there are many over the counter gels you can use. I am having an op on both wrists and thumbs. I have arthritis there and also years of repetitive strain. Apparently this op is very successful so am going ahead with it. I am on the list!!!
I have this too and I now get a steroid injection into it every six months. That hurts but only for a minute and then you get relief.First port of call is your GP.
