It's been a bad pain day and to top it all I'm still awake, despite having taken dihydracodeine, Tramadol, Gabapentin, trazodone and Oramorph! Feel so tired and fed up.
There's only so many episodes of CSI you can watch!!!

Oh what a night. Throbbing burning pain from the waist down since yesterday morning. Typical when I have a few things planned for the weekend. Hope you all have a good one. X
Have been saving my energy just for this as want to celebrate summer Equinox tomorrow even though it's on Monday, a school day. My Mrs don't seem to work anymore, oramorph, MST, Tramdol,, Diazipam, co codrymydol and Ambien you think it would knock a horse out. My partner takes one Tramadol and zonk. I think I have a high tolerence for these drugs and they just don't effect me anymore. I'm reluctant to speak to my Dr about it as I hear tales of being labelled drug seekers. All I want is to sleep so I can have some quality of life, not ge so disorientated like today, mgrumpy and withdrawn. I just can't cope with this lever of lack of sleep!

I know exactly how u feel xxxx even if pain is under some sort of control still can't sleep, tho that that may have something to do with the breakdown of my marriage 😓 he just doesn't love me anymore!! Nothing to do with the effects of lupus/fibromyalgia and depression or extended period of unemployment! Fed up with crying and can't get rid of him as we have a 5yr old son and he's a good dad (perfect part time dad of course! Had the practice with his daughter!) x grrrr
Enough of that, if u find the sleep secret let me know xx can only help xx gentle hugs x
Hello Dunk
I dont think we have talked before, its Jules here. I follow the Pain and Brain Injury forum on healthunlock.
I had to respond to you email as my emails on the forum always used to be entitked 'still awake' or just 'awake' it was normally the middle of the night, early morning.
I am awake still most nights still, but nowadays i have eventually found the best pain routine/drugs and get some rest from it. I am normally awake because of bad dreams or just restless, sometimes i dont know why.
One thing for sure is you and me are not alone with having the hundreds (is it thousands ? can anyone tell me ?) of people on the forum all who seem wonderful caring people.
Probably not, but if i can help at all, maybe i will be awake if you need a moan late at night or just a chat - please do if you want to.
Have a good day and i hope your pain eases.
Regards
Jules

I can go about 3 days with very little sleep ( 2 -3 hours ) and when I am totally exhausted I will sleep for around 72 hours it drives me nuts. GP has given me what meds he can and nothing works. I miss doctors/ Hospital appointments because of it
I get nights were I cant sleep, tonight I went to bed at 10 and now I'm awake at midnight due to nightmares. I think the nightmares are caused by the Oramorph and Morphine patches. I have been told by the chemists that Gabapentin can make you feel sleepy.
Went out Sat night to see a Bowie tribute band. Really enjoyed it but paying for it today after sitting in those seats for 3 hours. Hubby has COPD and is feeling rotten today too. Cooked us a nice dinner and we both left most of it. Makes me wonder if it's worth going out at all. Determined to try going for a swim tomorrow afternoon. It does seem to relax me as I just float and swim a bit using a "woggle" which is foam in a horse shoe shape. Heaven!
Hi Dunkdl, know only too well the loneliness of being awake all night, but sometimes we are our own worst enemy. No, it's not 'all in the mind', but the mind is partly involved. How many times have you said to yourself " I must get to sleep", which for the mind is an alarm bell.
My boss was worried about my sleepless nights, and suggested 'Nytol'. I checked with my Dr (GP managed for 8 years), and he agreed worth a try.. It won't work on those nights you tell yourself to go to sleep, but on some nights when you do sleep, it takes you to a deeper level of where the body can repair itself.
Last night no sleep, even after 3 hours crawling round my allotment on hands and knees in the fresh air. Don't take my word for it, go to the link below. My wonderful RheumyCon (Hon Senior Lecturer in RA) directed me to it. Now just finished third time through, so much to think about, including the sleep problem. Give it a go, and explore the site as well, really good use of time when cant sleep.
Not sleeping is not the end of the world, just something we need to learn to cope with. I'm 63yrs old and still normally working full time, and have a 100ft allotment. I took note of some of the guidance from Dr Clauw's about doing activities not exercise.
One blessing of not sleeping, is hearing the dawn chorus. Just think how many people miss this.
I have those sleepless nights also, curious if many others do and if there is any connection to MM -- on the other hand when I have a exacerbation of the the symptoms, I tend to sleep day and night and staying is a fight
