Pain relief
Hi paula, I have had pain meds through a drip before but usually when I have gone in as an emergency( like last week). What sort of pain meds are you having and what is it for? X
I don't know what meds the doctor said I'm awaiting a knee replacement and am riddled with arthritis waiting for letter to arrive it should say in that I should imagin I know I mustn't have anything to eat or drink for 6 hours before and I'm going in the day care center x
Don't know what medication you are having or where. So excluding injections in the spine or joints, you will be sat in your wheelchair ( or an armchair if you are able to walk). A cannula will be put into a vein and a drip stand set up to facilitate the flow. Take a magazine to read. It can take some time but that depends upon the medication and the injection site. Rib
In which case the cannula will be in the back of your hand. If you are in a wheelchair they attach a drip stand to the back of your chair (IF they have a spare one). If you can walk they will give you a drip stand on wheels so you are able to wander about & use bathroom etc. Take a book or some other single hand activity to pass the time. You will get given a cuppa but you may like to take a bottled drink.
Make sure they put the cannula in your non - dominant hand as they always assume people are right handed. Regards Rib
Hi can someone tell me what type of meds they may put in the infusion?
