Nortriptyline 10mg

Hi. Swapped amytriptline for nortriptyline 10mg as the former was giving me horrid hangover effect the following morning. I'm taking this for pain. Day 5 today. Pain still there but I'm not so tired in the morning. X

I started amatryptaline 5 wks ago. Had the same effects as you on 10 mg dose. I now take it around 5pm, as it takes time to take affect with me. That lessens the hangover effect. Although I'm doing this at 04:30, as I haven't slept at all. Too much pain! Hope this helps if you go back to amatryptaline. Cheers.

Off to Drs Tuesday to ask for gabapentin as the co-codamol 30/500 aren't really effective. The nortriptyline is better than the amytriptline for me. x

Hi I take amitriptyline 10mg x2-3 plus co -codamol 500/30 mg I take it at 9-10 pm then go to bed around 12ish and it works well for me as for the hangover effect I still get it too

Hi. The nortriptyline seems better. Not giving me such a hung over feeling!! Off to see Dr on Tuesday to ask for Gabapentin as co-codamol 30/500 aren't really effective. Aghhhh x

I agree with marshall71.You need to take painkillers as well.Start with co codamol 500/30mg 1 or 2 and slowly build up nortriptyline.10mg by 1 tab a fortnight up to 50mg.It is getting the balance between painrelief and hang over effect.Codeine on its own can be added, too but can cause constipation, so would need a bowel softener like docusate. Good Luck

I just started nortriptyline last night...feel really wierd this morning...my leg is buzzing..Im sure it will settle in time. I am also on Lexapro 15mg for depression. Had to make sure its safe to take both. Will be staying on 10mg as its for pain and too risky to increase dose. I have unbearable pain at times in back and right foot. HAd two surgeries, second one failed. I was going to post about this this morning....
