Has anyone else gained weight after taking Pregabalin ?
I think most of us that take pregabalin struggle with weight issues I know I do .I wondered about this raspberry ketone thats everywhere on the net worried its just a scam though
I was told, and I don't know if it was a good source or not, that Gabapentin and Pregabalin withold water in the body, and that's why dieting doesn't work. It didn't for me (see below). Good luck.
I already take diuretics, so should not be retaining water. Its a puzzle. Thanks for your input.
Thanks for your reply.
I started taking prevailing earlier this year and have gained weight but I do not know if it is the medication or not. I was taking Gabapentin but I had a bad reaction to it and for three months I could hardly get out of bed, the pain I got made all of my joints seize up.
I put on 18kg in 6 months when I went on Pregabalin, and stayed that way for 7 years. A year ago I stopped it (under medical advice), my opiates were put up and oxycontin added: it make me feel so ill I couldn't eat. They took me off that and put me on an anti migraine/anti spasmodic, Topiramate. This is great, I've all but 3kg of the weight I gained, without dieting, and I can't exercise to the level that would lose weight. Don't seem to get side effects from Topiramate. Since you have under active Thyroid that will put on weight so I would think that should be dealt with first by an endocrinologist and that he/she communicates well with your GP and your Pain Specialist, if you have one. Re. Topiramate: there are many other alternatives, everyone is different in what suits them and only pain specialists can really get on top of the right prescribing, GPs aren't trained.
