Heartburn: I am getting heartburn everyday and... - Pain Concern
Heartburn
Have you talked to your GP about this? Sounds like you have a hiatus hernia. You shouldn't put up with this kind of heartburn and pain for long, because the constant acid irriation on your oesophagus will eventually cause further problems that may not be reversible (like strictures or possibly even pre-malignant conditions). You need to get this properly investigated and be given options for treatment - which may mean stronger prescription meds or could possibly even mean surgery. Please don't delay any longer. This isn't normal, and it could be damaging your body more than you realise.
Thanks for this. I was on a high dosage of anti flamms many years ago and this started my heartburn problems. Working shifts didnt help as i ate at all the wrong times. It subsided but came back in 2010. I got meds from gp. Now it came back after taking another dose of anti flams. Have seen gp and back on meds. If theres no improvement after a month gp will have a look down throat. He checked for hernia but i believe it can hide. I also suffer from ibs which doesnt help. Thanks again
My first port of call would be my GP. He might offer you something for acid indigestion like - Omeprazole.
(They can be bought over the counter at Chemists for about £10.) but always check first if the are suitable for you.

Thanks for this. Have seen gp and i am on meds now. They seem to work. It all started with high amounts of anti flamms been taken for joint pain. If theres no improvement gp is going to look down throat.
This is perhaps a maybe but worth checking.
Check your saliva and Urine pH levels. You should be able to get a test kit from a local health food store. If the readings are low your problem may be just acid reflux which is helped and exadgerated by low body pH. This also is caused by vitamin B12 deficiency which again relates to the low pH issue. check out B12exposed.com or read my book at warfarinwizard.com
Many things can mimick your symptoms - if your med doesn't work & quick then pls ask gp to send you for ultrasound...it will show many things that gp can't see or feel!!
Thanks for this. Ive had 2 full days and nights without heartburn since starting the meds. Ive to take them for a month. If it doesnt work gp wants to have a look down throat and into stomach. Possible hernia or ulcer. Ive cut out big portion meals and booze. I suffer from ibs aswell which doesnt help. Thanks for ur advice
I have reflux disease,it can feel like a heart attack with pain in the jaw as well as the chest.I take esomeprazole but still sometimes get symptoms.Cold milk can sometimes help neutralise the acid.I find gaviscon satchets help me when i am outdoors or need a quick remedy. My GP gives me them on prescription.Worth a try.Good Luck and Happy New Year.
Great advice thanks. I have been heartburn free for 4 days now after starting meds. Ive cut my portions by half so not filling up stomach. My ibs affects me in many ways and also i look after my wife who has ms. This is very stressful ans i think it has contributed to my reflux. Take care and thanks again.
You are welcome.I to care for my husband,so i know how stressful it is.Stress causes more acidity.Hope the new year is better to you.
I have been on anti-acid medication for several years now as I just have problems with reflux. Getting to know your body helps for example I know that even on medication, if I have a few cups of coffee a day that is too much acid for my stomach to handle so I cut it to say one a day instead. Also if you are really struggling I find natural yoghurt helps better than milk to neutralise the acid with a few dry biscuits like oatcakes or something to soak up the liquid. Hope this helps.
Many thanks. Great advice. I think its a lifestyle change for me. I make a meal for my wife and i. She eats like a mouse so i will finish the rest. Thats now stopped.
That's an easy habit to get into! Smaller meals al round then
