Sue, what a brilliant lady you are. It's an excellent article and what a plug for Ovacome. They must be delighted. I tried clicking on the Ovacome web-link within the article but it didn't work. I wonder if that's an ongoing problem with the online paper and if so whether they can rectify it.

I think more work needs to be done to raise awareness of the Ovacome Health Unlocked site. Sadly a lot of the women who have Ovarian Cancer are not confident with IT. We need lots of demonstrations to show women how easy it is to join the group, make friends and get support.

We have our first SE Wales Support Group meeting next week. We'll have our online demonstration to hand so ladies can have a go at posting up a blog or question and adding a thread.

Bravo that lady!!! love Annie

Where is Sue? She's very quiet.

It's ok I'm here. Judith just emailed me, didn't know she had posted it. Great big hit, well worth that email - and I will email her re the link right now

Sorry for the radio silence, funny week. Was my birthday yesterday, made me a bit reflective.

I think most of us can relate to that response to a birthday. Nevertheless, many, many happy returns!

I subscribe to a sports bra website called Boobydoo and in this months newsletter there was an article raising awareness on OC. I was so pleased I sent them an email to say thank you

That's brilliant. We need this message everywhere women go.

Just wondering: anyone here on mums net and got a conversation started on there? I know there are loads of younger nuns on here... If not, any volunteers?

LOL :-D you know I meant Mums !!!

I think it would be a great idea to use our network here to identify the many ways we can all work to raise awareness via our different channels. Ovacome give us a brilliant support network - this inevitably costs and I'm aware from other people that small charities are really struggling with funding. Ovacome haven't mentioned this themselves - it's just what I've gleaned from my daughter who used to be CEO of a small charity.

The reason I'd be keen to promote this network is because in the long-term members are the main channel of funding for Ovacome. More members, more relatives and supporters understand what it means to us - inevitably more income. If people aren't benefitting from this site or know people who do they're more likely to donate to the larger charities such as Target or Ovarian Cancer Action Research.

If anyone has a chance to attend a health event, raise awareness of Ovacome at your local ovarian cancer clinic, or give a talk about Ovarian Cancer and Ovacome I'm happy to lend our kit out. It's a shame to have the stuff stuck in a cupboard in Cardiff rather than being used.

I wonder if there's a few of us who'd be interested in getting together via email to exchange ideas and pool resources. It's a good time to think about this coming to the end of Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month to put in place something for the remainder of the year.

Any interest in this idea ladies? xxxx Annie

Wonderful idea. I pay for Basecamp, an online project collaboration tool. I use it for clients but masses of space for extra projects for people to work on together. Can contribute that -its much easier and fit for purpose of planning and sharing documents than email is. All I would need is email addresses to setae people to projects.

Annie I would love to borrow your kit. Got three opportunities lined up

> the fashion show 25th April - going to speak, as is ocvacome, and have an info stand where I will also flog the teal candles for the cause. We also have a raffle - this week we were offered a week in Austria as a prize so we are also holding a silent auction!

> have persuaded Athena network Thames Valley (women's business networking org) to support Ovacome - ongoing. They have a conference coming up 10th May. We are doing some leaflets to try to get other chapters to jump on board and may get space for a stand

> with Athena we are organising a a Bake-off for Ovacome on 23rd may. Got a free venue and food, about to start marketing it. Again we will be plastering the place with ovacome stuff. I got my fundraising bits from sonia but the pull-up banner would be brilliant.

If you find you are inundated I may invest in another pull-up - but if I can get your artwork it would minimise the cost!

Am working on another few wheezes, nothing concrete yet

Oh and am about to try to persuade Mary Berry to get involved. The venue is in Bucks, where she lives so worth a shot...

Hi Annie

I have offered to do a talk at a local health and ageing project. It hasn't been taken up yet but I'm pretty sure it will be.

I also use my Twitter account occasionally to promote Ovacome, and more so during this month. I have just under 200 followers but if a few of them retweet my tweets it's amazing how quickly you can reach 1000 or even several thousand people.

I have few other things in mind to do but want to get my ideas into better order before I say more.

But we'll done you with all the awareness raising.

Love
