I keep reading on a lot of the posts from some time ago that Ginger Root kills off Ovarian Cancer cells. Like many I am very hesitant but reading all the posts when I googled this, I cant help but think I should try it.
I am having chemo tom so I will mention it to the Oncology nurses.

When I was on chemo I used ginger tea to help control the nausea.
I drink three ginger tea from Pukka Herbs, it's delicious. Thing is I suspect to get a therapeutic effect you'd have to take tons of ginger but I suppose every little helps.
What I have read which is a really powerful combination of anti-oxidants to start the day is:
1) Grate one habanero pepper each day, putting it on bread. Yes, you use the seeds. (2) Grate two cloves of garlic each day, putting them on bread (3) 1-2 Tablespoons of Emulsified cod liver oil each day.* TwinLabs makes some wonderfully flavored cod liver oil.
I used the cod liver oil because I was not losing any weight or dealing with fluid retention. If I had either of those conditions, I would have used evening primrose oil or borage oil instead of the emulsified cod liver oil.*
(4)Smother the grated garlic and habaneros peppers with real butter and eat it. No margarines of any type, including Smart Balance, etc.
I think the natural world gives us many things to try and they are often age-old trusted ingredients. I take ginger capsules(equivalent to 14.4 grammes of fresh ginger) every day, and eat dried or crystallised ginger when I'm travelling, as it helps me to avoid travel sickness, I've no idea whether it does any good, but I think it does, and I've been in the clear after having an op for OC in 2002 (so far!). I also like the taste of ginger anyway, so it's no hardship.
Im going to be stocking up when I next go to the supermarket/health food store. 2002! wow thats so good. All the very best to you and thankyou for your reply. coco x
Hi Coco, i have taken ginger ever since i finished my chemo, which was over 5 yrs ago now and i was stage 3b. During my chemo i also took 250mg of iron and a vitamin c tablet every day! I did a lot of my own research. As you are having chemo i would definitely speak to your oncologist about taking 250mg of iron and vitamin c, my oncologist let me. Hope this helps, Ellen xxx
Dear Ellen: Could you tell me how much Ginger did you take after chemo? I've read it's 100mg per kilogram weight. For instance, for a person of 50kg she should take 5000 mg dialy (it means 5 gr a day)
I have been taking ginger root capsules twice daily ever since I saw it mentioned on this website [about 5 months ago if my memory serves me correctly]. My OC was Stage 1- a granulosa cell tumour, which is extremely rare but with a good prognosis, so I decided to do anything to help its non-reoccurence. I have another CT in about a fortnight and then an appointment with the oncologist but so far my symptoms are those of a surgical menopause rather than anything else.
Try it out- it doesn't seem to be harmful in anyway. Good luck!
Hi I used to drink BUNDABERG ginger but you can only get it from Waitrose or Cosco this is very good for sickness and this is the best xx Will try the ginger capsules when I go to the health shop thanks for info Marge xx
Thank you to you all who have responded. From what I have read, its certainly not going to do any harm so I will give it a go and report to you all how I go from here. Thrilled today because my marker is down to 154 from 240 so definately going in the right direction. 2 More chemos to go when I hope I will be under 35 and start on the remission road again. God bless you all xx
Anything ginger helped me; ginger tea, ginger tea, ginger biscuits, ginger beer (waitrose fiery is the best in my opinion) and ginger added to food. I am a fan of making my own indian food and ginger always goes in that together with the other magical ingredient- turmeric!
