Hi all, Completed my 6th Chemo yesterday and was relieved, but today feel quite anxious as to the wait for my scan in a couple of weeks and the "verdict" when I see the oc late November-my Ca125 is down to 7 -but I am still scared of recurrence -and how long my remission will be-is this a normal reaction?
6th Chemo completed: Hi all, Completed my 6th... - My Ovacome
6th Chemo completed
It's a totally normal reaction, as you will see from the comments this posting will attract.
While you are undergoing treatment, they are 'doing something'. When the treatment stops, it's like you're on your own. Not a very nice feeling. You WILL adjust to this 'new normality' - it just takes time.
I agree, it's perfectly normal to be scared of reoccurance. It's also normal to worry about every little ache and pain. Anyone who doesn't worry is abnormal !
Such good news that you ca125 is down...you bound to be apprehensive... but I wish you a very long remission...love x G x
I think we all go through the same when chemo is over. I had not found this and other sites when it happened to me and I got in a bit of a state. Low dose anti anxiety med. helped, which my lovely GP prescribed. I had never taken anything but the odd asprin and was reluctant, but it really helped.
I wish you all the best. x
According to one very small study in a hospital in Yorkshire it is a good omen that your CA125 is less than 10. This according to the results indicate you are likely to have a good long remission.
I also have a low CA125. The oncologists I have seen have said that it is a good sign. So far I haven't recurred. I'm now 3 years after surgery, 2 and a half after chemo.
Good luck. Cx
Dear Kaskin
This all sounds very good. I had a CA125 count of 7 after my course of chemotherapy last year and had the follow-up check on November - same as you. You have responded incredibly well and this will give you a good chance of a lovely long remission.
It's nonetheless a horrible long wait and I've read women can feel a bit down when the chemo finished. I guess because we've psyched ourselves to get through it and then suddenly it's all over and there's no clear path forward until you have the 6 week results.
I hope you're feeling reasonably well and the next six weeks will be a time for you to regain your energy levels and be able to do things without worrying about hospital visits. It may be a good time for you to have a project - Christmas coming up? A break away? Meet up with friends of family. We'd love you to post some more blogs to let us know how you're getting on and feeling.
Loads of love Annie xxx
hi Kaskin
Feel exactly the same . Was more worried now than when having treatment . My consultant is really positive and talks about IF rather than when it comes back . I have days were do not think about is and other days when can think of nothing else
Have had an all clear scan and a CA125 of 11 . I think through tx your adrenalin keeps you going . Hope each days gets better and wishing us all a long remission
