Do not worry. You have come to the right place to get lots of support. Your story sounds a bit like mine, 10 years ago. You can read my profile for the details, I will spare you all that just now. They will probably do an examination of the outside of your abdomen, probably a blood test ( CA125), maybe an internal, maybe an ultrasound scan, depending on what they see on that, they could do a Trans-vaginal scan (via an internal probe). It is all very reassuring and definitely NOT painful. If they think there is even a slight chance of it being OC after they have all the results, they will refer you to a Gynae oncology surgeon. When I was diagnosed, I was reassured by everyone I met, had wonderful treatment, was never in pain and have had a successful outcome. I was diagnosed early, and that is important. It may not be OC, it could be fibroids or something like that, but if it is, let us know and we'll be with you with advice, reassurance and friendship.
Good luck tomorrow

Difficult to answer this question, obviously. If this is your first clinic visit, then they might give you a physical exam, and possibly an ultrasound - there are 2 types - one, where you have to drink loads of water then they rub the scanner over your abdomen, the other a transvaginal ultrasound, which really isn't as bad as it sounds, but gives a better view of what is going on internally. They can sometimes give you some information there and then but a radiologist will have to assess the images. They might take blood and test your CA125 - you won't get results for this right away - it takes at least 24 hrs if the hospital has its own lab - if not it has to be sent away and will take at least a week. CT or MR scans are almost always booked ahead, so it's unlikely you'll get one of them.- they usually send out a leaflet about these scans with your appointment letter.
You will be feeling really nervous right now, and won't get much sleep tonight I'd imagine - but try to focus on the fact that you are starting the journey of sorting out this problem you have.
The previous replies outline what may happen so I want go into that but wish you luck with it all. I do understand how worrying it is and hope it is something 'normal' like fibroids.
Im a few weeks ahead of you and have had all the tests outlined above. I have been diagnosed with OC but it is confined to my right ovary. I am so lucky, I have been diagnosed early!! I wish you all the luck in the world, dont always think the worse, it may not be as bad as you imagine, the important thing is you have done something about it and you will find that everyone is so helpfull and supportive. I hope all goes well in the next few weeks.
Good luck, Caroline. It really is good that you have been diagnosed early. Where are you with your treatment? Have you got a date for an op yet? Good luck with it all. There's a lot of info via the search button at the top of the page about preparing for an op etc etc. let us know how you are getting on

Hi Susie,
Just sending you my best wishes for today love x G x
hi everyone thankyou for all your kind wishes been to the hospital and the outcome is that i have to have an ultrascan and a bioposy in the next couple of weeks.
Glad that things are moving for you. Let us know how it's all going, and we'll keep hoping the the answer to your problems will be easy to sort out. Whatever it is, it will probably be better when you are getting going with diagnosis and treatment.
Best wishes for your forthcoming investigations... and hope they get to the bottom of it soon..at least you can be reassured that things are moving love x G x
Hi Susie...
Sometimes the pain can be to do with adhesions and, as one of us has mentioned, fibroids. I wouldn't worry that it's cancer unless you are diagnosed with it. You're much more likely not to have it than to have. At least things are in the pipeline and you're being seen. My thoughts are very much with you.
