Have just found out today that my oc has returned and my onc has suggested I have Topoecan. The info I have received does not give any indication as to the length of time the drug is adminstered over each day. This will be the 4th line treatment I will be receiving. Feeling rather down at the moment.

Hi Jean,

Just to say; sorry this has happened to you. I hope the treatment suits you and you are feeling good again very very soon.

Love,

Isadora.

Hi Isadora

Many thanks for your concern, am sure once the treatment starts to kick in I will begin to feel better.

Sorry to hear this Jean, it must be really worrying. Maybe you could give the nurses at Ovacome a ring ( number on the site, just google ovacome), or maybe your CNS at the hospital? They would have the info you need I am sure. With a Bank holiday coming up, I'd ring them soon and they will probably be able to get back to you today.

Good luck

Love, Wendy xx

Hi Wendy

Have spoken to one of the oncology/gynae nurses today and that has helped, yesterday when I was told I think probably I did not take it all in. Its like being on a roller coaster. Thanks for your concern. Will let you know how it goes.

Love Jane xx

Hi Jean,

yes I've had Topotecan given 5 consecutive days every 3 weeks. No side effects to speak off, but as I was travelling 20 miles each way every day it was a bit tiring! The drug was supposed to take 1/2 hour to administer, but with everything else, I was normally there about 2 hours, so a whole morning lost for my husbands work! I'm sorry to say that after 3 treatments my count started going up again...... but that was just my bad luck. Now on my 5th line and waiting for the results of the CT scan I had monday, but my count has gone down quickly this time, so fingers crossed.

Good luck - I hope it works for you.

Hi Viv

Like you we will have a round trip of about 35 miles it will certainly get a bit tiring. Even though the actual chem takes about 30mins it will be time prior pre meds and everything so I daresay it will take each morning up. Prior to staring the treatment I have to have fluid drained off my tummy for the second time in three weeks. Hopefully once the treatment kicks in I will hopefully start to feel better. I am trying to keep positive but have down moments. Will let you know how its goes.

Hope it turns out to be better news for you as the treatment goes along. Bank holidays are no holiday at all when you're in the middle of treatment and feeling not-so-good. Thinking of you, and also Viv. Hope you are feeling the benefits of your treatments soon
