Dear Gwyn, Here's a photo for you - Sunset at Plymouth Yacht Haven. Wouldn't it be fun to have a place on Ovacome where we could post up photos that remind us life is good. This was taken from the deck of our boat which looks over to the little village of Turnchapel. Sunsets are 'my thing'. My husband loves sunrises. xx

Hi Annie,

Lovely "loverly my dear" o- arr o-arr as they say down long a wee.. (My husband's comment) it would be nice to have a picky blog ...there have been some smashing pics put up..but even though you have written us instructions I still can't get my head around it.. haha...this is why I haven't got a pic up of myself...but you could tag it under "pics" or "photos" or "pictures" and then we would find it easier to find...I am not sure whether people can post theirs up on here...seeing as I don't know how in the first place LOL thank you for the photo though as we love Plymouth my daughter was born there,I have one son born in Chester and one son ( my youngest) born in the Rhondda while I was on a visit..haha...my sister in law lives in Tavistock.. but my husband has loads of cousins, aunts, and uncles down there and of course we have friends there as well..we love Plymouth..you've cheered me up no end.. not that I was down I don't get down very often..lots of love and more pics please x G x 8-) 8-) 8-)

Forgot to say like the other one that is a really good photo...Never mind about knitting, sewing crocheting ( your comment on another blog) photography is your thing..great !! we could add photographs to the poem book if it eventually materialises LOL just a thought... enjoy the weekend xx G 8-)

Lovely to see a photo of Plymouth - I grew up in the West Country and miss it to this day. It is one of the areas I visualise when I am feeling homesick or miserable. A place to put photos is a great idea! Like you Gwyn I haven't cracked the art of putting a profile photo up, though I have tried a few times, but it would be a great incentive to solving the ridde if there were a place for other photos.

:-D Monique

Dear both

I'm glad my little pic brought back happy memories for you. I feel as though I'm getting to know you over and above this dratted cancer which seems sometimes to loom larger in our lives than it should. I know what you mean about memories of places we've lived. I moved to Wales from London for a dare when I was 21 years old ... and still haven't gone back home. I miss London dreadfully, and the childhood memories of having a place on the South Coast in Sussex where we spent every weekend. Then I miss Mid Wales where I lived from 1974 to 2001 which is where my children were born and brought up. I do love Cardiff though. It's a great city. Particularly living right in the centre. I still can't quite get used to how close the countryside is. I just have to cross one road and can then cycle uninterrupted for 25 miles up through the Brecon Beacons National Park.

I expect I'll move again and then miss Cardiff. Such is life! xxx

Hi Annie,

Yes you are right..it (OC) does loom large but there is more to all of us...Cardiff is a great city.. but like you.. my children were brought up in Chester..and it becomes home...all three of my children live in Chester.. so I can't imagine living anywhere else besides I've lived here...over forty years.. so have lived here longer than anywhere.. I like Chester as well.. but like I said thanks for the memories love x G x

Hi Gwyn & Annie

True enough, if I think hard enough I can smell the sea air - and hear the seagulls shrieking - one of my favourite sounds. Also true that I miss many of the places where I have lived (though not all). That is the price of being a rolling stone! I am sure I will miss Singapore when we come home - even the infernal humidity which gets to me every now and then. You moved to Wales for a dare Annie? Thereby hangs a tale!!

It is good to get to know each other as more than a cancer story, as you say Annie, it cuts the beastly thing down to size a bit.

Enjoy your Sunday - we have an overcast, muggy afternoon here.

Hi Monique,

Yes memories are good.. things are always better looking back..we must have an inbuilt memory that cuts out the bad bits (if there are any).. I like it where I live too.. It is people that I miss.. but we do move on...love x G x 8-)

Dear Monique

You must've sent your overcast muggy weather over to Wales then. The weather today is a stark contrast to yesterday which was clear and sunny.

I did indeed move to Wales as a dare. It was in the Winter of Discontent when all the unions seemed to be on strike, rubbish was piled up in the streets of London to the rooftops, emergency services were eeked out by the forces, the commuting trains crawled like snails. To boot it all the IRA were intent on destroying London with their bombs. I was working in the City at the time and we'd have at least 3 bomb scares a week.

I decided on the spur of the moment to leave London. It was on a 2 hour commute to London which should have taken 25 minutes. Partly as a distraction, and as much to amuse my friends, I opened my paper at the jobs pages and pointed to one advertised in Powys. Here I am 37 years later.

I'm also a 'rolling stone'. I've moved house approximately every decade throughout my life. My current house is my longest resting place - 20 years this year. I found it cycling on the back of a clown's tandem but that's another story.

xx Annie

Dear Shen, I have to admit I'm far from clever, and not very technically minded. The photos are fun and it was lovely to read about all the lovely places people live and visit. What part of the country are you? Are there any local beauty-spots? xx Annie
