My symptoms were,

1. Change in bowel movements slight diarrhoea

2. Pains and cramps in abdomen area

3. Felling of being full after a couple of mouthfuls of food.

4. Urinating more frequently

5. Bloating of stomach and abdomen

6 . Weight gain ( due to the fluid in the abdomen ) I put on 10 pounds in 2 weeks.

I was diagnosed with Primary peritoneal cancer stage 3c in May. I have had one round of chemo, but feel fine I am doing most things I did before being diagnosed and I am back working although I have cut down to part time now. Hope this helps if you suspect anything see your doctor SAP. As the other ladies said the symptoms are basically the same as Ovarian cancer and so is the treatment.

Fell free to contact me anytime Babs x x

Hi Nicola

I too am stage 3c ppc - diagnosed in April - and had the same symptoms as Doreen. Was drained in April and had 3rd chemo 10 days ago. Feeling okay still, and thankfully with hardly any side effects except bit tired and very hungry for a few days afterwards (steriods I guess!). I hope everyone is getting all the info from medics as they need??? Would be interested to hear. I am under Clatterbridge Hospital but if op, that will be at the Women's in Liverpool.

Keep smiling! Sue x

Hi Nicola,

Seems there are a few of us with PPC on Overcome. I have only had 1 round of chemo next one is Wednesday 11th July. At the moment I'm doing ok apart from mouth ulcers and my hair is coming out in chunks now. Please keep in touch and let us know how the operation goes, hope you carry on feeling fine '

Hi Nicola

I was diagnosed withPPC last December. My symptoms were nothing like ovarian cancer - I am very aware of these as my mother died from it 10 years ago. From March 2011 I had a feeling of wanting to urinate more often & I had a pain in my right side (in my ribs) for sometime which I thought was muscular. I had none of the other symptoms, didn't affect my appetite nor did my weight change. My GP kept diagnosing cystitus & giving me antibiotics. I went to a woman doctor in October who examined me & organised a scan. I was diagnosed with 3c but have since had 7 cycles of chemo + a de bulking operation & have been given the all clear.

Hi Linda,

I had the same symptoms as you, and I was diagnosed with ovarian cancer so I guess everyone is different.. good news you have had the all clear love x G x :-)

Hi All

My symptoms were the same as babs and I had ovarian cancer and a cyst as big as a full term baby.

Hi Gwyn

I would never have believed a pain in the ribs was cancer, but there you go. As you say everyones symptoms are different which obviously makes it harder to diagnose. I am pleased about the all clear, but reading on here it appears recurrence is very likely. I live for every day & appreciate it.

Love Linda x

The surface of the ovary is genetically the same as the cells of the peritoneum. It's how we develop embryonically. So the things which happen to the surface of the ovary can happen to the peritoneum too. When ovarian cancer spreads, it can affect the peritoneum. In this way, primary peritoneal cancer is treated as advanced ovarian cancer and the same drugs as used. That's how I believe it is so far. The symptoms for me were the same as anyone would see on the Ovacome BEAT poster. The other thing i felt was low in terms of my health. i was completely exhausted and felt out of control at the time of admission to hospital. Hope this helps. :)
