Hi ladies, it has is now one year since I finished my chemo and AT LONG LAST my bowels and bladder seem to have returned to be in normal working order, I never thought this day would come.
My hair is almost back to its original style and colour, my next mission is to lose the extra pounds - I have about 1 1/2 to 2 stone to lose.

I never lost that extra 1 and a half stone.... do I care? Not much! Life's too short, but I'm healthy and stronger now, so that's good enough for me. Be kind to yourself. You've been through a lot

I also put on weight during treatment (about a stone). I said 'now to lose the weight' to my wonderful GP; and she said 'PLEASE, please, please; no dieting!' Eat a good diet, and up the exercise, but don't restrict intake massively. She explained to me that,after having had an aggressive cancer, the last thing that is wise to do is to put your system under the stress you do when you diet in the usual way. Also, the blood-sugar roller coaster it can set up is really dangerous. So - just eat plenty of fresh fruit and veg, and cut down the fats and cut out the sugars. I am now at the same weight I was pre-surgery (still probably a stone more than my ideal weight). It's taken me two and a half years; and it's happened naturally.
As Wendy says; I don't care - I'm alive, well and happy - I'll live with being fleshier than I'd like- and I'm taking much more exercise.
It's so good when things start to feel ok again!!!

Great news really pleased for you, enjoy the summer (if we get any) Like you I need to loose weight, finding it hard,as I now have a bad knee so no exercise.As the advice already given dont overdo the exercise of diet, just keep feeling well. Love Sue x
Good news Tina. Like the rest of the 'clan' I've also put on a bit of weight but I'm not beating myself up about it. Life is for living. So go easy on yourself

Thank you ladies you have all said pretty much the same as my GP and oncologist But I have lots of lovely clothes I can no longer wear and that alone gets me down - SOMETIMES!. Actually just recently several people have asked if I have lost some weight, I haven`t, I think its just careful dress sense. I packed 8 winter coats away that don`t do up any more.
I am not following any diet just trying to cut out the crap and eat sensibly for a change. On the steroids I ate enough to feed three people and lots of cake and ice cream, I have now returned to my normal eating regime but the weight still won`t shift. At least I`m not still gaining, LOL!!!
