Hello All

The Department for Health and Social Care (DHSC) is calling for evidence to inform the National Cancer Plan for England. This includes the experiences of patients.

Your views will inform the plan to improve cancer care, from referral and diagnosis to treatment and aftercare, in order to improve the experience and outcomes for people with cancer.

You can complete the survey here: consultations.dhsc.gov.uk/s...

Ovacome will also be submitting as an individual organisation and within group charity submissions.

The consultation is open until 29 April 2025.

Best wishes

Anna

Thanks. Should we try to mention our specific cancer/stats etc in our comments? The questions are all pretty general but not all cancers are equal.

Dear candyapplegrey

Thank you for your comment. We would suggest whatever is most important to you in your experience is what you mention. It's worth bearing in mind that statistics will be available and included across various types of evidence for the DHSC. Patient evidence is vital in ensuring the lived experiences of receiving cancer services within England from diagnosis, treatment and beyond are included too.

Best wishes

Anna

Completed. It’s really important to hear from as many people affected by ovarian cancer as possible.

The questions are open to allow people to write about your own experiences.

Ovarian cancer is a less common cancer so we really need to make sure our voice is heard alongside all other cancers. I’ve been a patient rep in the NHS for years and have been repeatedly told that staff are surprised when they hear what it’s like as a patient with OC. Some are only familiar with the most common cancers and don’t realise that it’s not the same across all cancers.

The comments can be made anonymously. So if you think something needs doing differently or if it’s just missing, then let them know.
