Hi there,

Have not had my post surgery meeting with my gyne onc yet but got a call scheduling me for a Pulmonary Function Test that she requested. Anyone have this? Is this normal procedure?

Haha good luck, I had this test before my big operation. I was 53 of average build but not the fittest 😜, they fit a mask on your face the put you on a bike and you cycle till they tell you to stop, it’s a bit uncomfortable but nothing to worry about. My prognosis wasn’t the best at the time so I don’t know whether it was to check if my body could cope with the trauma of the op. Good luck and loads of love

Thanks Dee. I have had the big surgery. I don’t have the pathology details yet though I have been told I will need chemo. Just found it strange that this has been booked. Nobody has ever mentioned it.

As mentioned contact your CNS, everyone is different. As for chemo mine was 6 hours every 3rd week, the first one killed me it was coming out of both ends, they’d forgot to mention I might need a couple of packs of Loperamide, and I ended up in A & E but after that I was fine, tired, drained and just feeling a bit off, again everyone is different and you learn what you need to do for you.

Good luck xx

Hi , hope you’re recovering ok from the operation. I had this test before debulking surgery to check out my lung function. For me it was a simple procedure , involved blowing into a spirometer . I think there are different PFTs depending on the reason it’s being requested. Might be worth asking your CSN for clarification.

Yes. Do it. As a Cancer Survivor and heart patient it a great way to measure the heart function.
